1.8T clouds of white smoke

Hi a 1.8T that when revved emits white smoke but o idle we think nothing (turbo) ?

LeRich 15th February 2019 19:07

Does this happen when the engine is cold or at all times?

White 'smoke' indicates moisture.

sorry should have said oil and water fine no mayo and not using any, also head rebuilt and new turbo fitted a few months back, smoke at all times

Does the white smoke vanish quickly like steam or does it hang around like smoke ??

When the new turbo was fitted, did you replace the oil feed pipes?

don't know all the head work was done by garage, update today managed to get some time to work on it so coolant in no3 cylinder from belt end, inlet manifold off and new gasket fitted and same result although not as much steam, so going back out to take the manifold off completely and test to see if it is warped or the mating face is, anything else to check as its running sweet bar this ?
Thanks

I thought the turbo but having the water only in no.3 cylinder, I can dry it out and run for a few minutes and take the spark plug out and have coolant back in the cylinder

Oil in Combustion Chamber is HG or Valve seals. or rare its piston rings

Coolant in Cylinder can only be ?

inlet gasket as you said or the Dreaded Hg ..

Unfortunately just because a garage did it . doesn't mean its been done right :duh:, more often than not they do it wrong ?

Ours had failed about 20k down the line from a garage repair and found they had put in the wrong gasket for the liner heights on our car .
