Rover 75 and MGZT dying out

How many left released the new data this morning only 21888 Rover 75 still operating from nearly 100,000 cars in 2006 , massive drop, if you look at the years 2004/2005 are standing up well, 2006/2007/2008 not so many of those.
Looks like the rover 75 is loosing 7000 cars per year to the crusher, its not going to take long with just 21888 left and these figures are three months ago, so i reckon theres just 20,000 rovers 75s left on the roads.

which is still good numbers but buy 2022 there will be none operating at that point if this carries on.

Well I can tell you that mine will still be on the roads in 2020 and beyond if I have anything to do with it, along with many more that I can see. The only ones going to the scrapers are those that are not owned by ‘enthusiasts ‘, not ordinary geezer in the street who never checks anything because nothing is wrong with it. A common misconception. I am sure the Midlands Nano Meets will be keeping a good amount of these vehicles on the road, as will other Meets.

It will be dependent on spares availability and cost of repair. You have to remember to a lot of people these are just old cars that are cheap. Once you can buy a newer car with less miles for less than it will cost to get its next years ticket it will be off to the crusher sadly.

You only have to look at how many other cars are disappearing fast and because manufacturers are doing crazy deals to get new stuff out of showrooms and onto the roads it will carry on.

Heaven forbid they introduce another scrappage scheme.

At 65 I think I'll still be able to buy and run a decent 75 till the end of my days, whenever that is.

Luckily the 75 and ZT has a pretty decent and dedicated following compared to lots of other cars of a similar age, so I'm not too concerned about them dying out. I'll be keeping my 75 for as long as possible.

There always seems to be some sort of scheme running, Mazda, Kia, Hyundai and Dacia, plus Ford have just introduced their new scrappage scheme.

I think Mazda are offering anything from £3,000 up to £6,000...

The zt-t and tourers are fast becoming rare

Well my CDTI is in pretty good order, and with a bit of good luck avoiding being run into etc, it's going to last beyond 2022.
On 87k the engine is good for lots, and lots, and lots of miles.
I give my 75 the attention it deserves, it will pay me back in spades.

You won't have any problem getting five or more years out of your car Heather, pretty good order is the understatement of the year :drool4:
