New instrument cluster needed - please help!

Hi All,

I had a bad day last year when, on the 70 mile drive to work my diesel connie suffered an alternator failure (nearly at work - typical). Had it recovered to a garage near home - I won't say who they are but they were the only local garage who could fit me in at short notice. Should have seen the warning signs! :duh:

So, a few days later they called me to say the car was done. Great, I thought.... until I got in the car and noticed that it had now done 999999 miles. They have since admitted that they did not disconnect the battery when they fitted the alternator!.

Anyway, I took it back, they said they would reprogram the miles - they tried and failed. They said they would ask a specialist to have a go - he tried and failed. They said they would need to send the instrument cluster off to be sorted by some expert somewhere - the expert tried and failed. Finally they said they would have to source a new instrument cluster. Well, I hoped that at least that would fix the dreaded lines on the computer display but alas, they tried and today have told me that they cant source one.

Can any of you genius' out there advise what options I have? Does anyone have an instrument cluster for a connie that I can purchase off them (hopefully without the lines on the computer display). I guess it will need programming in some way too.

Thanks for reading of my woes. I just don't know where to go from here and I would really like my car back!

Cheers for any help.

Not a problem, an easy fix for me and could possible fix the display at the same time.
