anyone fitted a metal salve cylinder
My LUK slave may have failed, just wondering if anyone has fitted a metal slave cylinder from DMGRS?

I have a metal slave from DMGRS on my ZT, as recommended and fitted by Lates.
Only been on a few months and a couple of thousand miles though. No problems so far. |
Absolute junk
Just my opinion obviously |
I’d refuse to even fit one, stick to Luk simples!

I had LUK fitted in mine and they didn't last at all. Master lasted 13 months and 3000 miles and slave another 10 months and a total of 6000 miles. When it came to replacing the master I considered a metal one. The consensus was from those that know more than me, especially Big Russ with his knowledge and experiences of his customers, and from some who have already posted above, that they were no better than the plastic ones. Andy Willy also told me they were no better and that he had had the metal ones fail straight out of the box.
It was the reason my ZT-T was sold in the end, didn't want to keep forking out money on something that would fail again. PS didn't I read recently that DMGRS had recently got in another supplier because of complaints? |
I'm kind of none the wiser.
Looks like a metal one is a no no, I thank I was hoping that was going to be the answer to my prayers. macafee2 |
As I read about these, the issue with the slaves is the seal breaking down. Could these be dismantled and a heavier duty seal fitted with additional grease added. If this is the case, I would imagine the plastic would serve better against the seal.
Also would it be feasible to have the slave mounted outside the box, with pipework going into the box? My only experience with slaves was donkeys years ago, on one fitted to the top of the gearbox. Replacement was literally a five min job, and 10 mins to bleed and test. It looked at you as you opened the bonnet. Was such a simple and easy design to work with. EDIT: the slave used on the Celica engine is similar in design to the one I refer to HERE. They have adapted it to suit but make mention of not being able to use a concentric slave cylinder that would fit (or perhaps they knew better lol) Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk |
