Old Number Plate.
Spotted a Range Rover today with number plate ABC324. How old would this plate be?.
Also noticed no MOT. |
The earliest would be 1932 for a three letter combination.

Old Number Plate.
It’s a private plate registered in 2008.

The plate would be pre early 1950s.
Initially, the marks were made up of a local council identifier code of up to 3 letters, followed by a random number, e.g. ABC 123. In the early 1950s, as numbers started to run out, the components were reversed, giving rise to registrations in the format 123 ABC. That was until 1963 when the Suffix plates came out. Not always though, I had a 1964 Morris Minor, with a registration of 770 CAN and that was registered in London in 1964. :D |
My 1963 landrover was 524 TAU
Still on the road some were in an enthusiasts hands i rekkon - just look up the MOT history! |
I bet the owner looks at his plate and wishes it was abc 123 lol

Kent registrations were different. Our 1964 Consul Capri from Dover was 8938 KR.
