BM54 Back - Modified?

Hi all,

Whilst I'm getting my BM54 flat pin sorted, I've got hold of a BM54 back unit to use in the meantime. Just arrived today, haven't even tried it in the car yet but I took a little peek inside and it looks like it has been modified / repaired?

I'm just wondering if anyone can identify whats been done. The sticky labels that are on it refer to navi4cars which suggests a repair / upgrade?

Should be able to actually test it tomorrow night, but curiosity being what it is, just thought I'd ask :p:

I can't say what he has done but he is known on the BMW websites for fixing, upgrading the units.
So you could have upgraded amps and or bluetooth music streaming or phone bluetooth or just a repaired unit.

Right - had a quick test tonight and it appears to be in full working order! In fact the sound quality was perhaps slightly better than the BM54 flat pin I have. I did notice on the tape mode the dolby symbol which I hadn't seen before?

However, the reason for testing it was because I thought I had an issue with the BM54 flat pin. I now doubt there is an issue but I'll expand on that in a dedicated thread.

Cheers for the input though :}

The modification is to bypass and replace the original amplifiers. Well known to fail in this model radio. You should have a fairly rare and powerful radio.

Well, now I'm confused over which amp too keep, the BM54 flat pin, or, this one:shrug:

Choices, choices.....:shrug:
