Air con compressor

I have a clutch plate detached from the front of the air con compressor. I have the bolt and it can be pushed back on the pulley splines and tightened back up but the rubber on the clutch plate has deteriorated and in one instance has disintegrated.
Does anyone know if the plate can be bought and replaced or is it a new compressor needed.

Rob,

Take it to Compressor Tech in Warwick (not very far from you and minutes from the M40). They rebuilt a compressor for me, I have visited their premises and can recommend them 100%.

Hi Rob.
Is this off a V8 I am presuming so as you have it posted on the V8 section ? are they different on a V8 as opposed to V6 and diesel air compressors, if not guess what is in the tardis :}

Hi Steve and yes I believe that they are all different but will double check

Update Rimmers show different part numbers for 1.8 V6 Diesel and V8 so all different

V8 compressor is unique to the model no other model uses this. The twosixties has all the information that you will need. You may be able to get one in the uk as i did a number of years ago but people generaly purchase directly from Rock Autos in the states. The twosixties provides a discount code for Rock Autos. As for the pully i think these can be purchased seperatly.

Yes, unique. Although pulley-clutch units are available they tend to be expensive, even from RockAuto (www.rockauto.com, search for Ford/2002/Mustang 2V 4.6). I bought a compressor with pulley/clutch for little more from RockAuto. You may be able to source one from a Mustang specialist in the UK. The Mustang GT ones are identical to the ZT260/75V8 the airco compressor already being fitted to the V8 engine units when delivered to MGR by Ford originally I think. Starter motors and sumps are a bit different, but that's another matter!

David
Do you have a part number as the Rockauto listings include a number of different manufacturers. Thanks

dbt01 28th April 2017 08:23

Hi Peter. Just checked and they no longer list the one I bought (Motorcraft YCC322 IIRC).
They do list others, new and remanufactured. Just make sure you get a "w/ Clutch " one of course.

Since the Two-Sixties site is down you can't get to the discount code, so you can use mine which is valid up to June 4th. It is:
