Creaking plastic

Like many V6 auto drivers I like to lean my unused left leg against the nearby lower dash section when driving. It's relaxing and you get a pleasant breeze from the heater outlet. However it doesn't half make the whole assembly creak. Short of limb amputation does anyone have any suggestions as to how to shut it up?

I have this with the lighter area! Creaks like made and if I push it in and out it sometimes stops. Then bump off it goes again! Would silicone do this or is there a better fix? I don't know how it strips to tighten?

The other day I saw an add for some coloured rubbery strips that, with the aid of the tool provided, you push into the cracks where the various plastic components meet up and round the vents, window controls etc. It's only for cosmetic use but I suppose it might tighten things up. Anybody tried it?
