a few ?????,ssss about my 1.8t
 
hi all i just bought a 03 plate 1.8t with 90k now i problem im having the oil light flickers when engine is warm and only seems to happen when im slightly up hill or under braking i also have a little smoke from when i remove the oil filler cap like sump compression now the oil level is fine it had a change 2k ago any ideas??? also should a fan come on in the drivers side wing all the time any help would be much appreciated

Are you saying that with the engine running and the oil filler cap removed, and with the palm of your hand over the open orifice, pulsating pressure can be felt?

Pressurisation in the sump suggests worn pistons/ piston rings. Oil light means low oil pressure and usually suggests worn bearings.

Hi mate, first thing I'd do is replace the oil pressure switch as it's not too bad a job and relatively inexpensive, when the light comes on do your tappets rattle a lot louder if not it's quite possibly the switch thats faulty!

I agree. They can become contaminated and malfunction if the engine oil hasn't been changed frequently.

I'm not a 1.8 expert but I think that might be the ATF cooling fan which should run only when it gets very hot.
