Anyone need anything?

Put this in here as it is off to the crusher next week and it didn’t get any reads in social forum.
The diesel tourer failed big time with need for welding of sills and rear suspension mountings, so I have decided it is time. I hope to get another tourer, will have to see what comes up.

Would have considered having work done, but not sure there are reliable garages who would do a good job. Sound like quite a big bill!

I have had nearly 6 years of joy driving around the Isle of Wight with my dogs in the back, smooth and graceful!! Have had compliments for how nice the car looks.

It seems such a shame to send it to the crusher as the paintwork (is it Westminster blue?) is very good on the doors and bonnet etc, but as I live on the Isle of Wight other owners would face some issues collecting any panels.

I have taken out the leather interior, rear lights, headlights, CD player and various other bits in hope of using again. Also have new spare rear upper and lower suspension arms that I purchased some time ago in expectation of needing them at some point.

There is a V6 2.0 tourer for sale locally, haven’t seen it yet , but only 60000 on clock but would need belts etc, again don’t know mechanic on the Island who I could trust this to.

Oh dear! Have another car, my Skoda Octavia, so will now use this for daily transport.

If anyone wants me to take of bonnet front wings or doors etc, please let me know, they are all in v good nick with no rust and good paintwork without damage.

Yes, but sorry they are going in a box of stuff that I might need if/when I get another 75.

Hi, I don't suppose it has a good MAF sensor or are you looking for another diesel?

trikey 9th October 2020 17:31

What paint code is it?

BRG75 9th October 2020 19:42

Hi,

Is it sandstone, or moon stone interior please?

If sandstone, I may well be interested in rear carpets and side pieces.

Regards

Mike

How would I be able to find out? Is there a sticker somewhere?

Sorry Mike, I am not sure what interior it is. Is there a way of me identifying. Also not sure what carpets and side pieces you are referring to, I will have a look in the morning and let you know what I can find out.

I replaced it couple of years ago, engine runs well and smooth. However I need to start car to get it out to the road for the scrappy to collect it, so I will need to leave it in place and would not have time to take it out. I can’t leave it on road until he arrives as I have taken seats, lights out etc. and it is not insured or MOT’d.

Just been out with a torch! Paint is JBH, trim is LBB, at least I think that is what it reads.

Could do with the MAF and the injectors if its a diesel please. If the outside piallrs are ok could do with them too; the metal ones that gets rust bubbles.

Thanks for looking, unfortunately LBB is Smokestone; not the one I'm after.

As mentioned to Geoff, I need to start the car (or what is left of it!) to move it up the driveway to the road for collection, so cannot dismantle the very smooth engine.

Not sure what outside piallrs are, if it is part of the door, there is a small bubble on the drivers door upright window surround.

Garry k 10th October 2020 15:44

Could do with the injectors if there good as big russ just tested mine and said they need replacing so if they are available
I'll have them
(Just 5 min ago pm'd micky boy to see if he d some)

Nobby 10th October 2020 18:04

wouldn't mind the rear door inner waist seals (ie the rubber between door card and window) if they've not bubbled or deformed.

Caulkhead 12th October 2020 07:48

Thanks to all who have posted asking for various bits, I am struggling to dismantle my lovely tourer, and I am not physically able to do much very quickly. I just look at her on the drive and wonder if I should save up and have the extensive welding done, I can’t bear the thought of if being crushed. Sorry to mess you all around, I will leave it a while and think through any options. best wishes Roy

Azur 12th October 2020 17:49

Better keep it on the road!

stocktake 12th October 2020 18:34

Hi Roy.

Fact is if you buy another tourer of around the same age if it hasn't had the rear sills done then chances are it will need them shortly. You got to ask yourself what have you gained?

If the welding is the only thing it has failed on then you have to consider getting it done.

Sills and the associated jacking points are between £150 to £200 per side as a rough guide and the level of workmanship by some people has to be seen to be believed.

How much for suspension ?
