This is impressive!!!
My all-time favourite Aircraft - just wish I had gone on it when I had the chance.... :( But you think these things will last forever don't you... :icon_cry: |

I was privileged to be part of the Flight Test Department for the 'Beautiful Lady' from 1968 to 1980 and had over 100 flights on all of the development aircraft.
:christmas: We had been given a projected time in service until 2020... but then we 'lost' one |

Same here, I was saving for the ultimate British engineering experience, New York by Concorde, return by sea on the QE2, sadly by the time I'd got the money, the option had gone. |
That's pretty impressive, I wonder how much that cost? £100k?
|
I never flew in it but I saw it in the air many times and often heard the faint 9pm 'sonic boom' as it accelerated out beyond the edge of the country headed for New York. Seeing that model bank around took my breath away. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed it.

She came to Zimbabwe, I think it was in the early/mid 90's and they were offering a 90 minute flight out over Madagascar and go Supersonic over the Indian Ocean, turn around and come back for Zim$5000 (2 months wages) at the time. I could have afforded one ticket but thought it unfair on the rest of the family to go on my own, so I decided against it - stupid me!!!
But we all went to the Airport to see it take-off only standing about 50 metres from the edge of the runway.... Mightely impressive!!! What amazed me the most was the condensing of the moisture above the wing - never seen that before!!! I stood there and almost wept...... :( |
A Sunday out for us to see it take off at Jan Smuts as well.:Holly2:

Concord was killed off way to early, lot of years left in it. Had it been built by Beoing would have been a different ball game. Never flown in one but did go round the one at the Scottish Museum Of Flight at East Fortune.

Pretty sure in the last few years BA were losing money on the Concorde. Never went on one, did get on the prototype in a museum. Bet it was worth the price of a ticket.
