Thinking of buying a limo
 

Guys I need someone to keep me on the right course. There is currently a 200mm stretch black 2003 plate diesel for sale. It is a conni but a basic one heated seats full leather pack.
It does not have a fuel burning heater nor does it have cruise control. Both of which I would want fitted before I started using it.
It has just under 70k on the clock and is a auto box so will be in need of a atf flush.
They are asking 5k for her which I feel is a bit steep. I only paid 900 for my wife’s saloon with all the toys diesel auto with 60k on the clock 12 months mot an 03 plate that was two and a half years ago. I know the stretch commands a higher price but for a basic equipment pack an extra 4K seems a bit over the top.
Please everyone let me have your thoughts on this. I am no longer able to work on the cars myself ( I hate old age) so anything that I need done I will need to find someone to do it. Ie the cruise control and the fuel burning heater. I might manage to put an android head unit in it to replace the Sony system someone has fitted to it.
I would like the extra 200mm for the grand kids but what to do.
Please please help me decide on this one.

it is your money, if you want it, like it, and can afford it, go for it. But I would suggest going for a bigger car if you only want more leg room for your grandkids. One of my neighbours uses a Discovery because of his sons height. Perhaps a Range Rover? The reason I am saying this is due to the parts availability of the specialist parts (although I dont think that would be a great heartache). If I was in your shoes, I think I would be looking at an Audi A8L or a Range Rover/Jag with an LPG kit lol, but reckon they would more than 5k, however they would hold their value if you needed or wanted to sell later.

Too expensive.

I was underneath a LWB 75 last evening, and the extra length let into the sills was showing alarming tinworm.

I would seriously consider buying something different if rear legroom is a consideration.

Steering well clear of that car would be my advice ;)

I recently purchased a LWB with all the bells and whistles. It's a really lovely car but something that really is getting into the realms of something you WANT rather than need.

Mine has at least double the mileage that the diesel one had but it was less than half the cost.

Only you can weigh it up - I wanted a LWB 75 because I'm an enthusiast but i have had to spend out on it and will continue to do so as it needs maintenance.

As Brian said above, do get someone to inspect the state of the sills & rear foot Wells from underneath. I think mcnellie built them all outside in the rain!!

HOWEVER... They drive really REALLY nicely. Way better motorway manners then a standard wheelbase 75. Better sound deadening. Just feels a bit more luxobarge-y than a normal 75.

Skoda Superb? One of the most roomy cars Ive ever had the pleasure of travelling in.

Ridiculous amount of leg room in the back. And, gigantic boot.
