Tight nearside drive shaft?

Jacked up nearside front wheel to check after ABS light came on found it was stiff to rotate.
Moved okay back and forth for about 5 degrees but harder to rotate than the offside!
Could this be an internal problem with the differential or only an inner brake pad sticking due to maybe the caliper not floating? Didn't have time to check further. Just passed mot with no probs or advisories! Best 75 mot examiner has seen so need to investigate. Have rubbing noise when driving. Original hub and bearing 185000 miles.

From the symptoms you describe and other info, noise, ABS light, the first and easiest thing to check is that a pad or pads aren't touching the disc for whatever reason.

If they are, then this may possibly be the problem, either way, with a little gentle leverage they can be pushed back to completely clear the disc, when this is done if the hub is still stiff to rotate it suggests a possible wheel bearing problem.

These two are far the greatest favorites for your symptoms.

Hi,I had a similar problem on the ZT,eventually it got so bad it seized the wheel and could not be turned by hand,in my case it was a seized wheel bearing.Good luck.Regards Ry...

Wheel bearing failure

Many thanks. I had released the pads when wheel was off. No change so will sort a new bearing, or hub. Cheers
