New Car? Blue Smoke
Hi Folks,
I test drove a 75 Tourer today, Diesel 150,000 miles. Cold and wet- loads of blue smoke out the back. How concerned should I be? Should I take it out for a test drive- get the engine hot and see if it still has the smoke or just walk away? Thanks. |
Walk away I'd say; blue smoke usually indicates burning oil.

Diesels smoke a lot more and easier than petrol.
It could be faulty or it could just be adjustment. If the car appeals to you, have it looked at and use it to get the price right. If it is worn, walk away, but at 150000 I really doubt it. |
Could very easily be the turbo.

Blue smoke
Change the PCV filter and the intercooler O rings you may find it works wonders.

Definitely signs of a blocked PCV ;)

Thanks- how much does that cost?

Thanks Folks- I'll give it another chance today.
