Should ambulances get parking tickets?

As a nurse I'm really interested in people's opinions on this.

''She said: 'Where would you like me to park? It won't go in a bay; I can't fit it. I'm not going to leave it in a disabled space. I've been on since 6.45am this morning; I've had nothing to drink and nothing to eat and now I would like to go to Tesco to get some water.''

The traffic attendant should have applied common sense. In the same situation, I would have offered to watch the ambulance whilst the nurse went and got her water.

I find filmed disputes like this disappointing, yet at the same time I have to watch them :getmecoat:

Emergency Services operational staff are on constant standby, and are required to attend an incident immediately. They seldom have time to " knock off" for meal breaks. They eat" on the hoof" more often than they would like to. It's an accepted part of their occupation.

Can't imagine what would be left of their Ambulance if they parked it up to go off to lunch.

The boss of the parking company has cancelled the tickets, and made a donation. The parking " officer" needs serious retraining. Or maybe a career looking after a boating lake is more his " barrow" .

He wouldn't work for any company I ran that's for sure.

I have to say that the chap filming was the only real idiot on the scene - for calling the other chap an idiot a number of times.

This is a case of a company's training not being adequate - but the company seems to have just blamed their employee.

my daughter is the ambulance service.
if they were on a shout, without doubt I would say no.
What is the difference between the paramedic parking there, a BT engineer, a Breakdown truck or any commercial vehicle?

is this only an issue because it is an ambulance?

Simple answer, no.

All our emergency services should be exempt from all parking restrictions.

why?
You would be giving them the right to park how they please for what ever reason. As someone whos' property is being damaged by someone because "they have the right to do it" I find your suggestion horrifying.
