Viva Las Vegas

Having to 'shield' at the moment, one of the things I've been doing to keep myself occupied is to trawl through a mountain of photos I've collected over the years. These are from spring 2004 during a week spent masquerading as a high roller in Las Vegas, plus day trips to The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Interior shots (apart from Hoover Dam generator room) were taken in the hotel we stayed in (The Venetian), although all the hotels are equally as spectacular - particularly the 'themed' ones such as Caesars Palace, Paris, Circus Circus and Luxor etc etc.

Great photos and thanks for the memories. What did you think of Vegas, did you like it? I have only ever been there once through work for 3 nights. I had a penthouse suite to myself in a big hotel which felt sterile as it was immaculately clean, vast and cold with the A/C. The suite had its own lift and separate floor for food and beverages all included. Perhaps if I’d had my wife with me, it would have been different. I remember taking a photo of the inside of a casino and being challenged by security to stop, I had to delete the photos. It was my first time in a casino. Downtown Vegas felt like living in an amusement park, with lots to see and do. A fantastic experience.

I absolutely loved it. This was my second trip, the first being the year before. On that occasion it was only for two days though as it was just a brief detour during two weeks of exploring California. As you say, there's plenty to keep you entertained and among other things we took in a show (Penn & Teller at The Bellagio) and went for a night time helicopter flight up and down the strip. That was spectacular and I have film of it on a miniDV tape, which one day I'll get around to having transferred onto a DVD when I can find a place that doesn't charge ludicrous prices for the privilege.

We stayed for 5 nights in the Stratosphere and as part of our package received two visits to the top of the tower. Quite spectacular views, we actually had a third visit but that was to the revolving restaurant where we celebrated our 40th anniversary. We arrived two hours late for our booking due to miscalculating the drive time back from the Grand Canyon.
I would certainly go back if I had the chance as the time we spent there just wasn’t enough to see everything.

Me and the wife done a coach trip about 10yrs ago, which included 3 nights there. Also stayed at the Stratosphere, went up to the top to see the rides, was amazed with one that goes out over the side,no need to go on it as it was scary enough just to look at it.

We were in a diner on the Strip when across the road there was an explosion followed by a virtual volcanic eruption.
Apparently it’s only at certain times of the day so we missed the most of it.

I could have watched the fountains at the Ballagio all day with the accompanying music.
