Dont look at the diesel through rose tinted glasses, they can be every bit as much of a money pit! I'd start looking for one from a forum member who has a track record of maintaining their motors!

From my own 8 year personal ownership the two items that are most costly is firstly the clutch, I am at 193,000 miles and have had two so far, and the injectors though not such a big deal if they come out easily, once out it is a £450 repair bill to have them re-conditioned by Lynx Diesels. After that everything that has gone wrong was realitivitly easy to repair using the knowladge here and internet parts. Anything heavy duty I left to my local ex Rover/MG garage and always had the car back the same day so with the right tools and knowladge it cant be that hard to repair.

I am sure you are aware of the Marque issues (plenums, handbrake, clutch etc). Main diesel specific ones are PCV & injectors. At least no belts or head gasket issues!

I will have owned it 5 years next month and the problems were water in the boot. Really easy and cheap fix and I had to adjust the handbrake for the MOT. That is the total of faults. :D:D:D Colvert.:cool::cool: |
Surely can't be any worse than the 1800 turbo........that engine is a nightmare lol
