Front wheel play cause n fix??

Can anybody suggest what the likely cause for this wheel play might be?

Its slight play in the OS front wheel from 3-9 oclock position but not 12 to 6.

Last week replaced the track rod end and lower arm hoping to solve it and the lower arm bush n balls were well worn anyway it needed doing but changing them has not fixed it outright. Now suspecting bearing or oval'd out lower arm hole in the hub and maybe both :duh:?

When i first got this car the calliper of this particular wheel was binding bad and no idea how long it was like it before i got the car, had to refurb the caliper with a new piston and seal but been ok since then other than the slight play.

Could it be likely caused by a badly binding caliper over time? I would have expected to find bearing play in any direction really but as talented as I am with a spanner and my "three n a half" star haynes rating still a bit short on experience...

:D

P.S

Any members in south lincs area whos willing got a bearing press facility?

Hmmm scrappy for a new hub perhaps... oh the fun.

Forgot to say just been out to jack front wheels up and give both a spin off the ground and no nasty noises to report.

Have you checked the other wheel track rod end (for 3-9 play) or the steering rack?:shrug:

Tightening the lower arm to hub pinch bolt is worth a quick try . Can't hurt :}
Have a read of this https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ch+bolt&page=3
The recommended torque is 45 Nm which is not much , and if they have ever been undone in the past they will need a little more on refitting . Perhaps try 55 Nm and see if it improves ? :shrug:

Hmmm im sceptical about that, might order new pinch bolt and nut and try it cheap enough i suppose and naughty me for using the old ones when refitting.

EDIT

Ok i read the thread properly and im a little bit excited but trying to keep a lid on that lol maybe my pattern lower arm is slightly off spec, i can believe...
