Catch Tank

I just noticed a little square thing under Paul's bonnet and there is a receipt for a catch tank, so assuming that is what it is. I looked it up and its for the breather system?

Why do people fit them afterwards? And is it something I need to empty/maintain? Sorry, I know nothing about all this add on stuff:duh::duh:

Thanks

My dad had a catch tank fitted to his Mk1 Mondeo. AFAIK it filters out any contaminants that may have found its way into the engine oil, keeping it cleaner and helping it to breathe better.

I will take some pics tomorrow, it was too dark when I got it home to get good photos. I think I might need a bit of instruction how to empty it lol!

Thank you
