According to the Independent - the US is denying any military airbase deal :shrug: but that it has reached an agreement with Ecuador on combating drug smuggling in the area.
It looks like the Pentagon will use a USAF Boeing 707 (777 more likely?) specialist Radar Surveillance plane and a Lockheed Orian. Which have been given permission to use the tiny airport on San Cristobal Island.
Looks like a classic bit of “spin” by RT to me. |
