It would be nice if they actually build it. I could be tempted :D

trikey 28th April 2018 19:35

They should change the name, it sounds like a constipation remedy.

Think of it as Christ Motion, as in Xmas/Christmas? :p:

It could be worse though, when I see VW's Blue Motion. I cant help but think of when a lady has a monthly accident?

Thanks for that! Not only will I now be thinking of Princess's monthlies, when I see a VW Blue Motion badge, I will now, if I see an MG crossover/SUV, be thinking of MG Tena 'keep you dry all day' Pants.:duh::p:

Sorry I personally loath these SUV monstrosities, what does this have to do with MG, an affordable English sports car.

Well I've just bought one of those MG SUV monstrosities :) - the new ZS, and considering what we got for the money, whilst not a 'sports car' it was very affordable. Infact if we had bought the Seat Arona with the same spec, it would have been probably 25-26k as opposed to just under 19k!

Seems SUV / crossovers are the flavour of the day at the moment, the Ford Mustang & Chevrolet Camaro are in line to get a electric suv crossover makeover shortly  similar to the new Jaguar ipace.

I can see what you mean to some extent as I've just got a compact crossover (Kia Niro hybrid) a full SUV was far to big for our needs this compact crossover is just right for us.:} getting in & out of it is much easier for me than a car.:}

I don't know what 'Bumble Bee' from the Transformers film will think of the Camaro SUV :D:p:

Would be nice if the Chinese owners of MG would start building them in this country again, and also build some cars not SUV's.

If they cannot do this then would be nice if they would sell the brand back on to someone who would

I work for MG Motor UK and overall I am happy with the cars, they are great value and well equipped, we must remember MG Rover and MG Motor are different companies.

No chance of building them again in this country sorry, no factory to build it (longbridge is not viable and is practially flat), plus the cost of labour etc is too high when the new cars are sold on value, the most expensive part of a new car is the cost of assembling it! plus its a chinese owned company that supplies thousands of cars to the far east so why have a stand alone factory to supply 1000 cars a year to a small island when they sell over 1,000,000 a year!

You have to build what people want, the MG6 was a huge flop, as noone buys hatchbacks now unless its a Mondeo or Insignia with 50% fleet discount. The SUV market is massive and you have to be in it to win it!

As for selling the MG Brand back....noone wanted it or the "proper" MG's in 2005 when MG Rover went bust, I was working for them and the sales were desperate towards the end...people bought BMW/Audi and Hyundais as they were more modern, had a better Badge or warranty.

So we have access to 'inside' information then :D :getmecoat:

On a serious note, any news on MG bringing out a Hybrid or a full EV?

BaroqueMoon 11th June 2018 13:07

Take a look at the new Mazda CX-5.
That MG is ridiculously similar. It's almost an exact copy with a bit of boy racer thrown in.
I guess they just thought 'What crossover is selling well in most markets? The CX-5. Lets just make one of them then' easy peasy.

Lets be honest an MG ZT isn't exactly a 'sports car' is it either - it's a big family saloon with firm(er) suspension and less soundproofing
