Woolwich Shooting. George Medals
The local Rev Jesse V. for Woolwich is petitioning The Ministry of Defence H.Q for the 3 ladies to receive the award.
On 22 May, a lady and her daughter comforted Fusilier Lee Rigby whilst he was lying on the road and the other brave lady, spoke to his murderers in trying to stop them harming anyone else, also to try and calm them down. The Rev Jesse V. proposes that these women, all civilians receive the George Medal for their bravery and actions in preventing further loss of life and what they did for Mr. Rigby. I received an email about it today. Should anyone wish to support this and sign the petition please see: www.change.org or Change.org I am on my phone and not easy to do the proper link. Thanks |
Hope you don't mind but here is the link:
https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitio...WRE_jmoauIjsUZ I am signing it, my first thoughts at hearing this story about the aforementioned Women was they deserved to be recognised publicly for their actions. This feeling was intensified when listening to Ingrid Loyau-Kennet on the Radio, she brushed off her Courage and Humility so easily, without recognising her own actions for what they where. |
Thanks for adding on the correct link. The petition is now up to 50,664 including us both. The petition needs to get up to 75,000. It is important and I hope other people will sign it too?

It would be well deserved. As you might guess from my user name I did my army basic training at Woolwich in the late 70's when it was the Royal Artillery Depot. Have fond memories of the place.
|
Also signed. Will be sending on to others in the hope they do also.
Thanks for sharing. |
Signed just now, need another 17,794 to sign up to reach the target.

Signed this tribute to the courage of the three women, and to the senseless killing of one of the lads of our brave armed forces whilst unarmed and raising awareness collecting for the charity. RIP Lee Rigby

In the years ahead the story of what happened to the soldier will be told countless times when ever the George Medal for these brave ladies comes up. It serves as a fitting tribute to the memory and bravery of Fuselier Lee Rigby and so he will be remembered. Please do take a couple of minutes to sign the petition. Many thanks.

I got sent this by email and signed it last night
|
I signed yestreday. I hope that these ladies are awarded the George Cross - they stood like beacons of decency in front of evil that day. They, with Lee Rigby, will be remembered long after those misguided men have been forgotten.

I signed this and it has gone up by over 10,000 since Gatekeeper's post yesterday. :)

Thanks for alerting me phil, as a former serviceman I know how devasting it can be to lose friends and comrades and for those 3 woman to put him and the safety of others beyond their own was courageous in the extreme and deserving of the highest award a civilan can recieve ie the George Cross the petition is close to its goal of 75,000 now lets hope its achieved by the weekend.
the two individuals who did the horrific deed deserve to be locked up for ever in isolation but sadly the courts will not permit that as they have civil rights. Requiem in Pacem Lee |
Thanks Mike for those words. The latest is that the Rev Jesse for Woolwich is planning to hand in the petition into Downing St on Tues with other community leaders. He is aiming for 100,000 signatures. Boris the Mayor of London has signed and the London Evening Standard has given this support on the front page

A vote of thanks for visiting the post and for everything you did by signing. It might appear as though my thanks is late. It is really appreciated. |
I hope they make the 100,000 that they want to achieve by Tuesday.
It is up to 82,661 now :) |
|
Thanks for posting it up Jeff and it looks as though that one of the ladies is going to donate her medal to Lee Rigby's son. Truly honourable.
