Autoglym
Its getting to the time of year when I need to stock up on my autoglym products and I came accross this website
http://www.fasteronline.co.uk/index....d0f748e1d6f45c All the prices include P+P just wondered what you all thought of the prices. |
I freely admit I could be wrong, but aren't they cheaper in Halfords? Sure I remember my last bottle of EGP being a bit less that that. It's been a while though.

We are a PREMIUM Autoglym stockist & sell at the standard RRP. But I'm sure we could give members on here a 10% discount on that RRP!

I spotted Autoglym Fast Glass and Super Resin Polish for £4.99 each at the local branch of Wilkinsons the other week. Think that was for the 325ml bottles.
But that's a great offer Andy! Thanks. |
Better?
I have used Auto Glym for YEARS, but think that Meguiar's now offer a better product and to be honest, no more expensive. What do others think?
|
I too have used Autoglym Super Resin Polish for years, a great product for what it is IMHO. Just lately I've used Meguiar's Endurance and Hot Rims and have been impressed. I might try ScratchX for some of the more stubborn swirls and scratches and when my Turtlewax shampoo has run out, I'll definitely be thinking about trying Meguiar's shampoo....

Meguiars all the way
I've used Meguiars exclusively on my classic Mini auto since I got it 2 years ago and won best in class at a couple of shows.
It also makes the ZT come up with a really deep shine. The hairpin alloys are a pain though: too much of the spray ends up on the brakes, so I tend to spray it on to a lint free cloth and rub it on to the wheels that way. |
I used to use Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection then moved on to Meguiars Gold Class and NXT products. I've used Poorboy's products for a while now and offerings from Menzerna, Mothers and Optimum.
I use Carlack-68 acrylic sealant as a base coat. Some of you may know it as Klasse All In One. It removes surface contaminants and lays down a micro-thin acrylic layer that protects the surface of the paint for about 6 months. It makes the car really easy to wash and the after wash shine is immaculate. Over the top of this I apply Optimum Car Wax after each wash. It sounds like a bit of a Halford's bargain bin special but its imported from the USA and is well respected in detailing circles. Its a spray wax/sealant combination and you'd be pretty amazed at the results it gives you on a light coloured car. This wax builds depth and clarity with each application, I'm very impressed with it. If you get the preparation right, your car will come up like new after nothing more than a wash. I use the following places for detailing products, may be of some use to you: http://www.carsparkle.com http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk (some excellent guides on this site). http://www.motorgeek.co.uk http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/ |
Anybody ever used that "mer" in the blue bottle?

Just need to work my way through the EGP and Harly's I've got now as quickly as possible so I've got an excuse to try some new products like the Poorboys stuff :) |
I've used Polished Bliuss a few times and they are excellent - a thumbs up from me. Might be worth someone from this site seeing if they will do some sort of discount for us ;)

Still, might be worth asking though. IMO there's nobody who knows his stuff better. Tell him your car colour and he'll recommend the best products for your particular colour and paint finish. |

The first time I washed the car, (having only owned it since March), I rinsed with a hose, shampooed using Meguiar's lambswool mitt and two-bucket method, clayed using Sonus Green and Glyde lube, polished with Super Resin Polish, sealed with Extra Gloss Protection and finally waxed with Collinite 915. Used Meguiar's Hot Rims on the alloys, polished with Super Resin Polish and dressed the tyres with Meguiar's Endurance.
Followed the same regime the second time minus the claying. There's a good build up of wax now so I should only need to shampoo and polish for the next six months or so.. |

The Optimum Car Wax (OCW) that I mentioned earlier would be perfect for your colour of paint. Using that and after washing, it'll take you 20 minutes to achieve the same finish you have now, only each time you do it the depth and reflections will get better and better as the OCW doesn't remove previous layers like SRP does. If anybody does decide to use OCW, don't follow the instructions on the bottle, there's a better way. Use 2 microfibre cloths or if you don't have these, terry cloths will do. Spray a small amount of product onto the panel you're working on and use a cloth to spread it over the whole panel. Wait for it to haze over than remove immediately with the other cloth. The results are astonishing. |
Car Detailing
I have just bought a new toy for cleaning my car from "Clean Your Car Care Products", The Gilmour Foamaster and i just wondered if any of you here have used this gun before and if so what you thought of the results.

Never used one but the "snow foam" method is a good way to go when washing your car. It removes all the little grit particles that cause swirling. Even the best lambswool mitts can't grab every single one of these particles. Cover the car with foam and then wait 5 minutes before washing using the 2 bucket method. You couldn't do better for your paintwork. |
