planenut 19th August 2015 11:57

As much as I enjoyed the Ruislip meet and the company, I cannot do this as will be developing neck ache watching a big metal beastie floating round the ether.

Woof25 19th August 2015 12:09

Well don't know what you had for brekkie, but I think I,ll give it a try next time,if however you mean flags I think it will be correct next time:} and the metal monster Gus and me were grappling with has gone to the scrappers cos we care for the environment. It was good to see you and you might even fancy the Kings Arms for aouting we can only hope :D

Woof25 19th August 2015 12:11

Anyway living where you do you should be used to big flying beasties overhead:D:getmecoat:

So, will be popping along, I would love to eat but it depends on the lenth of time it takes to get your food order, a question, is it a long wait? if I arrive about 11.30 can I eat and get away by 1.30?, non the less I will be coming along, Cheers
John Howard

The Ely Meet 13th Sept

Hi Phil,

I have added you and Angie to the list and look forward to meeting you both. Do you need a spyhole modded plenum cover? I have some that I prepared earlier. Happy to swap with yours.

Peter.

Gate Keeper 7th September 2015 14:29

The weather forecast for Sunday is 17C 40% chance of rain in the morning only, I won't have to worry about the car being washed, so will leave it to Mother Nature :)

Hi Phil.
How things on the home front, hopefully improved from the last bit of info we had.
Good thinking number one with the car, it just seems a never ending task.

Thanks Peter. I collected your bits from Clyde today. I already have the spyhole mod, but I think the hole may have been drilled in the wrong place, as I can't get a rod on the drain hole. See you all Sunday.

Cheers, Phil

harrisop48 7th September 2015 17:57

Collection

Thanks for doing that Phil. Saved me a trip to MK. My modded plenums have two holes. One to shine a torch down and one to look and see where the rod needs to go. Happy to swop one over for you on Sunday.

windrush 7th September 2015 18:38

Hi Peter is there any chance of a meet at the ELY in October As far as I know I have only one commitment that month and I think that's near the end of the month I have miss so many meets this year

Tackleberry 7th September 2015 19:19

Can you put myself and my girlfriend for this please, we'll be eating as well

alanjay 9th September 2015 23:53

Good news (or bad for some) unless something else occurs with my Connie I'll be there. Car still not ready for MOT but that doesn't expire until 15th. Might even have the lunch Woof owes me (not really but worth a try).

Alternatively, I'd be quite happy dine on the wine and wafer dispensed by Rev Jules.

Meets at The Ely

Derek,

In response to your request to have a meet at the Ely during October I am afraid I will have to disappoint you. I prefer to alternate meets where different locations are available, to ensure variety. The Ely lends itself to meets during the Winter. During the last successful meet at Ruislip Lido I conduct a poll asking folk if they would support another meet there before winter sets in. The vast majority were in favour. I will announce meet dates in due course when I have checked the Calendar to ensure dates do not clash with other local meets.

AndyJacobs 10th September 2015 15:58

Yes please!

As discussed with Peter... Can you put me down with my other half (Sharon) and we'll be eating too.

harrisop48 10th September 2015 17:48

That's great Andy. Will add you and Sharon together with Stewart (Tackleberry) and Girlfriend. We look forward to meeting you all.

The Ely Meet 13th Sept

Hello,

I am planning coming to the Ely meet tomorrow, not sure if I will be eating, though probably will.

Should be there midday (ish).

Looking forward to putting some faces to names and getting lots of tips and advice.

Cheers.

Peter, can you please cross our name off for lunch tomorrow. We will still be coming, but this month I have the MOT + road tax to do and just paid out ££££ on a big bill, we will have a picnic. Cheers :}

Tackleberry 12th September 2015 17:43

Cars all clean now, looking forward to it tomorrow :D
Had to clean the car as it was showing the 70 mile a day commute on the outside and inside a bit :o

alanjay 13th September 2015 16:03

Another well attended meet and good to see so many old faces as well as new (to me) ones.
Deciding the winner of the loudest shirt contest was a close thing but I think Shiner just pipped Woof25.
Thanks to Mr Harrison for organising the meet and special thanks to Shiner for, as per usual, dispensing practical help for some and wise advice for others. It's guys like Shiner that make membership of the club worthwhile.

I would agree with Alan an excellent turnout, many thanks to Peter for organising it.
The usual faces and some new ones, hopefully we will all meet again, it was a shame Derek and Lilian could not make it he had other important duties, Derek I hope everything went off okay, and Phil what can one say it was brilliant to meet Jessica and yourself once again, also paying special attention to my new Tourer taking photos of it.
Sorry to say I have forgot your name, the guy who bought a pair of struts off of me I hope they have done you a good turn.

Thanks. Would love to see the photos of Julien and Alan's cars once you've had time to sort them.

I should also add that special mention should be given to Mike (Woof25) for the calm and confident manner he displayed whilst despatching the selfish driver of the "Chelsea Tractor". Very well done sir!

Ely Meet

Hi all, it was great to meet members and wives at the Ely yesterday(Sunday), due to domestic problems I have not been able to attend meetings for some time, it was great to meet all those members and their wives/partners. I was pleased that so many still remembered me.
I was backing my 75 out the garage when I heard and felt a bang, on inspection I found one of the front springs had braken, therefore I had to take the Focus, dissapointed, yes, but I was not going to let it mess up my day.
And guess what? Andy came to the rescue, he had two newly made up `strutts` in the boot of his car, I purchased them and he is going ot fit them for me and put the `Green Goddess` back on the road.
So all in all what started out to be a dissapointing day, turned out to be very fruitfull and I had a lovely Sunday Roast and a couple of pints.

Thanks you all for making my first meeting for about a year so enjoyable.

Thank you Cliff for your kind comment, the lady obliged by moving her car once she realised the error of taking up two bays I asked politely and it worked.
Just a few of the photos I took on the day as we all eagerly await gatekeepers results.

Yep, the 'Wa Wa' brigade used up 2 parking spaces, given they could have parked up using just the one. The lady driver - not her day, unfortunately was wearing a Gary Glitter wig and had the eyebrows to match. Cheers to Mike for being her to book :}

I started working on the photos last night Cliff. Hopefully they will come out alright. Cheers :}

Great Meet Yesterday at The Ely

Thanks all for attending another great meet at The Ely yesterday. It was good to welcome Newbies Andy and Sharon from Andover, Stewart and Satu from Newbury and Tim from Portsmouth, who all drove great distances. No hardship in their luxury motors. Did you get your bonnet open Tim? Thanks Phil and Angie for Pony Expressing the Load and Luggage Cassettes from Clyde. Apologies for the Lunch Table confusion but it worked out well in the end. We had 13 MG/Rover75 cars there today, so a great turnout.

Further apologies for eating Lunch earlier and running away to an exciting Rugby match. OK someone has to win, but it was not London Welsh. Bristol took the spoils with an excellent performance. (Dammit!!)

Great Photo's of all the Cars. Well done Gents!

Will arrange another Ely meet in November and hope to see some/most of you at Ruislip 18th October.

Peter.

Woof25 14th September 2015 15:37

Deciding the winner of the loudest shirt contest was a close thing but I think Shiner just pipped Woof25.
Thanks to Mr Harrison for organising the meet and special thanks to Shiner for, as per usual, dispensing practical help for some and wise advice for others. It's guys like Shiner that make membership of the club worthwhile.

How time flies Alan. I am not sure if you have seen this photo of your Moonstone ;)

Just because it only takes a prod Julien, I would rather tell the person but prod the button all you like its your right and I will fight to the end to support your right, despite those odd beliefs :D

Thank you Derek, there were 5 Spitfires flying in formation. I did ask if anyone else had seen them. I think I was the only one. I did wonder if they were heading for Biggin Hill in prep for the Battle of Britain tribute.

No worries Phil, you see to yourself first, the longer I wait the more pleasantly surprised I will be.

Cheers.

Hi Phil I think that they were heading for Faarnborough as I do know that the Red Arrows were parking up there for the night

A lovely pic as always Phil. Do you mind me asking how you achieved the effect you've applied? I used to be able to get a similar effect using Google Photos built in "HDR" filters, but they've since changed the app and the filters no longer seem to be there. I've tried other HDR effects, but they all seem to be overly harsh.

Appreciate it if you wish to keep trade secrets to yourself though!

Cheers,

Cliff

Good morning Cliff

I am happy to chat with you face to face at a meet about the Phil63 photo. But I won't be revealing the 'how' secrets here. Too many times certain people have taken advantage and tried to copy my ideas, creativity and skills without so much a thank you to GK or a mention. I have since learnt my lesson, in not telling all ....;)

Teflon 1st October 2015 07:23

Very wise Phil. I look forward to the next meet. :-)

But puzzled why a past meet is being posted again other than perhaps a memomento of happier days at the Ely,
I thought we are all committed to give the New Inn a fair trial after the treatment that Alanjay received from the alleged manager at the Ely.
The manager at the New Inn seems very positive according to GusV,s feedback so let's give it a fair go
