here's a couple pics of my two. Really miss taking these two out to meets and shows. Didn't get to do a single show or meet last year, last one redfive attended was in 2019 the day after I bought her from Bob, and the typhoon has hardly been used since it was displayed at the NEC classic car show in November 2019.

Last year the typhoon came out the garage 3 times, once whilst working on it prepping it for it's mot, once to drive it to it's MOT appointment and back and once on a day trip to Southend when we were allowed out briefly. Since Feb 2019 it's only done 2k miles in the last 2 years.

Hopefully some meets can happen in the 2nd half of this year.

As we haven't seen each other's cars for so long, and everyone very rarely seems to post pics of their cars on here in recent years, let's see some pics of your pride and joy. Back when I joined here in 2012 the general forum used to be booming with pics of members' cars and what they were doing with them.

These really are fantastic cars. Very nice to see all the photos. I'm usually looking at photos on the forum to double check how to mod the bonnet release box etc but the styling of these cars is, for me, one of the reasons why they're so special! Proud to be a member of the forum.

Very classy for a first car. I wouldn't had been able to run one due to insurance when I was 18. So had a little Essex boy racer Irmscher Edition corsa for a year and a half. Then bought my typhoon ZT a month after turning 20 and was amazed to get a £1200 insurance quote on it. Then dropped to about £800 the next year, as by that point I had 2 years NCB.

Hope this has worked.

Soooo many lovely cars. I'm sulking.I've started cruising round Ebay and wondering if I just buy another. I won't. I know the HPFP is new, the clutch and cylinders have done only a few thousand, all the brake lines less than 1500 miles ago. new discs, wheel bearing, hydramount etc.

Particularly annoyed as, having fixed the front end (thanks Marinabrian for tip about Silverllight bumper) I've managed to catch a low bollard and scratched /dented the nearside sill whole length, even the chrome beauty strip has a small kink.

I'll get that fixed when summer comes when I'll also get the, now spare, bumper re-sprayed, swop over the nice new fogs, fit new indicators and the nice shiny headlamps due to arrive from Rick-sta.

Need to do that handbrake job when weather warms up, I'll re-visit Artic's "How To".

PS That's not my North Yorkshire house, it's one in Scotland.

Very nice! I was tempted to get some red alcantaras for redfive but decided to stick with the full leathers, more hard wearing compared to the alcantaras as I have blue alcantaras in the typhoon.

I thought it'd be raven black, my dad's first 75 was that colour and had lovely depth to the black. His current one is pearl black and although is still a lovely colour and is nice when you can see the purple in it, it just doesn't have the depth of raven black.

Ah glad to hear that, thank you :)

Hi Rick , yes I did have 19s on and then serpents and moved to vikings as they are rare , also fitted the premium bumper since I first had it , and so many mods I can’t remember some of them !
The car still looks good but not as good as it once was on close inspection but it does have 196k on the clock and it’s rarely missed a beat so not complaining

That looks lovely, but would look even better if it had silver wheels imho.

Here's some I took the other night. Never really appreciated firefrost until I bought redfive. Even at night under LED street lighting the colour really pops.

Here are our four pride and joys.
MC is my daily driver. A 2.5 Connoisseur SE.
HMA is my wife’s daily driver. A 2.0 Connoisseur SE.
T934 is a Launch Car built on 6th May ‘99 with all the goodies and is affectionately named ‘Show Car’ which as the name suggests is what she is mainly used for these days. Well pre pandemic anyway.
V936 is another Launch Car built a fortnight later and is known as ‘Mouldy’ due to the state of the interior when purchased due to the sunroof drains. All dried out and sorted now. Currently SORN but planning to be back on the road later this year.

She is going to have an engine swap as soon as some better weather gets here Rick as theres a zs lump in there.

I'm really hoping that she'll be on the road by summer.

so she's had a engine swap already before? That would be a 180 engine in it then I take it?

Be good to see that one finally finished and on the road. Bet it'll drive lovely with that ultra low mileage :)

Hi Dave. Can’t the 180 be uprated if it’s a good engine instead of dropping a secondhand engine in, be it 190? There’s not that much difference is there? Isn’t it just the cams. More lift and all that entails. Only guessing from years ago.

Hi Dave,

Tbh it's probably more hassle than its worth to uprate it, I have a very low mileage genuine 190 lump which I bought as a precautionary, that will have a new oil pump, belts and the like replaced, together with a new clutch and hydraulics.
A future owner will need to know the car is as.

And a bad job done by someone too mate.

In the short drive I've given her it feels totally solid despite being stood for so long, and yes, I'm so looking forward to getting this one finished.

Hi Brahim, either https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=159955
Or join an image hosting site, I use IMGUR, and copy bb-code, then paste your pics.

The carpet was sandstone from a scrapyard and I sprayed it with Lavender dye.

The Mighty Quinn 27th February 2021 22:14

^^^^ Looks like you got nice even coverage over the carpet and door cards - fair bit of work in all that

^^^ That's impressive   Lots of intricate work in taking the door cards apart, several even coats of paint, reassembly + all that and more for the carpet.

The overall effect is extremely bold, but looks really well against the Caledonian exterior and dash (never thought I could say that about Lilac anything inside a Rover 75 / MG ZT)!!

Cheers,
Karl.

Rick-sta 2nd March 2021 18:42

That's very interesting. What dye did you use and does it make the material go hard or is it still soft to touch?

There is a very slight stiffness but if you can brush it in, the biggest problem is finding enough stock of cans using different countries across Europe.
