Tim 30th November 2006 17:27

Looks better than the last picture in the mud puddle you posted Keith :D

Keith 30th November 2006 17:35

Ah well that was "up north" mud we get a different type in Shropshireland.
I have polished out a few scratches, still working on the wheels though

NOCTURNAL 30th November 2006 19:35

on the subject of wheels...
'Shadow' apex was on my must have list, However unfortunately the ones on my car were attrocious... (sp) not kerbed, just huge chunks of 'finish' missing :( I opted to have the dealer get them done, as I have a mate with a vxr Monaro that has a shadow finish and he shelled out £75 a corner (for a good job) This was out of my budget at the moment.
I didn't expect the finnish to be 'original' as the dealer seemed 'in the dark' when I mentioned the process involved, and how hard it was , but I wanted them done so accepted the silver finish I eneded up with.

They look fine and suit that car, so will do for now... but I do love the shadow finish....:drool4:

They look like they have had an abrasive treatment of some kind mine are in a similar state as well, not a particular well designed finish for day to day use is it.

Womble 9th December 2006 21:27

Ouch! Those do look bad!

Apart from some brake dust pitting (well, OK, quite a lot of brake dust pitting where I've not washed them), they're still looking great after 3+ years!

Mine look great now too ;).... just silver ;)

however as theyer also covered in sh!te you cant tell... I work in a factory near 'working fields' so one day results in a complete car covering :(

and at the rate I'm using my detailing spray to get rid of bird lime as and when i see it, I should get shares in Meguires:eek:

hopefully dry morning tomorrow and I can get her clean and tidy :)

I havent had it clean and dry long enough to take any pics since I had it :(

Sorry if this sounds dumb but can you have a shadow finish put on any alloys? I have the 11 spoke straights on my ZT and although nice in silver I would like a shadow chrome finish. I've looked at replacing them with the Apex ones but I really do like the 11 spoke straights, just not the finish!

Paranoid Carlos 10th December 2006 14:51

If you want the smoke chrome finish I can recommend a company in brum just by spaghetti junction.

They are called laptab and can do anything you want to 99% of alloys, from matt black to the shiniest chrome, will try and find the number, there work is amazing and seems to last, I now know 5 people who have had refurb work done by them, and the wheels still look as good as new after 31/2 years.
Workmate had his new shape celica wheels (standard fit) refurbed from a corroded matt silver to smoked chrome with a very slight tint off gold, and they look superb not at all flash but gives them a quality look.
Intend to get my 11 spokes done when i'm a bit richer.

Paranoid Carlos 10th December 2006 15:05

Here you go........ Worth giving them a call they can do some amazing things.
