1990 Rover 827Si Fastback Automatic *NOW SOLD*

Just £875, no offers! :) New battery too! Now just £850!
It's with a heavy heart that I'm advertising my Rover 827 for sale. It is a lovely, genuine car, with a very low mileage of just 39,800 miles, though this is rising, and will likely be 40,000 very soon. It had one very long term owner from 1990, until 2011, and since then has had a few owners, with me being the most recent. It passed its MOT in late January, with no advisories, and is taxed until the end of September.
There is a substantial wad of receipts for the car, as well as a service book filled with Rover stamps, all at the same dealer. The car comes with its origina supplying dealer numberplates, sticker, service sticker, and all of the Rover security stickers in place.
The car's exterior is in very good condition, with a lovely paint finish, and excellent panel gaps. The glass is all original, and the car has a set of four matching wheel trims in place. However, as the car had an elderly owner for many years, the exterior is not perfect. The bumpers have scuffs on their extremities, as appears to be the norm with all 800s, and there is a scratch in the passenger side rear quarter. The sills are absolutely perfect, and all body colour, with absolutely no evidence of paint there. The underside is superb, particularly for a car of its age. One rear arch has a few bubbles, and, if I were keeping it, I'd certainly be attending to that this year, as the rest of the car is so nice.
The interior is in excellent order, as you'd expect from a car with such a low mileage. The wood has a few cracks in the varnish, on the main dash, but other than that, the trim is excellent. The seats are in fantastic condition, and the car smells exceptionally clean, and fresh! The original radio is in place too. One of the rear seatbelts has been replaced by a Securior one, including the belt, and clasp.
Mechanically, the car is lovely. The engine is exceptionally smooth, and isn't tappety like some 2.7s. The gearbox is smooth, and selects all of its ratios with ease. Unlike the majority of 827s, this one has a fantastic handbrake which will hold it on all inclines with no problems! The brakes are smooth and progressive, and there are no unpleasant clonks of bangs from the suspension.
The exhaust was fine in January, but there is a slight blow from the back box, though it's still very refined. Overall, it drives very well indeed.

If you have any questions at all, please do ask, as I want to give the most honest appraisal that I can, of this exceptionally rare, and, original Rover 827. It's certainly not perfect, but, it is a marvellous car, with concours potential, given a bit of spending.
A rare opportunity to own an interesting, and appreciating classic, for just £1350 though I'd rather the car went to a true enthusiast, and thus, I am open to offers. The car will come with a boot filled with spares too.
£1350 but now reduced to just £875.

I'm happy to discuss the car at length, with any potential buyer, and will photograph the paperwork this evening.

FrazzleTC 3rd April 2014 21:20

As promised, a photo of the paperwork. It was originally a demonstrator, registered to Haxsted Rover, in Kent, and then to a Mr Potter, from 1990, until 2011.

Jules 3rd April 2014 21:47

They were the best seats IMO of any car ever made !!!!!
I was always disappointed when the 75 came out with much smaller seats.
Good luck with the sale

Jules

FrazzleTC 3rd April 2014 23:42

Thanks Jules! It's a very comfortable car indeed, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone as a classic/unusual car. It's very modern in the way it behaves, with plenty of performance, and comfort, yet offers very retro looks, and rarity.
Ideal as a first classic, or everyday unusual car!

FrazzleTC 4th April 2014 21:47

Another wee bump, and to say I'd rather it went sooner than later, so very open to offers, but only from enthusiasts.

LeRich 6th April 2014 08:39

Can't be many left on these especially in this condition. A future classic surely?!

GLWS

FrazzleTC 6th April 2014 10:49

It's a very rare car indeed, particularly being a mark 1, and with the best engine of the lot, being the 2.7 V6. It's definitely a car for an enthusiast to take on, and cherish, but one that can be used on a regular basis with no issues at all! It's not perfect, but it's as good as you'll find for sale. None of the issues of the early KV6 with this, as it has the delightful Honda unit.
I'll happily discuss the car at length with anyone, and, will meet interested parties at Lockerbie, or Dumfries railway stations.

RPWC 6th April 2014 10:54

I know someone who is into these cars, will get in touch with him and see if he's interested and let you know by pm Fraser.;)

FrazzleTC 6th April 2014 18:27

Here are some more photographs, illustrating just what a delightful thing this is!

FrazzleTC 7th April 2014 12:35

I would consider taking a 75 or ZT as a part-exchange against it, but it'd need to be auto, and there'd need to be cash, my way. I'd rather just sell it straight, however.

FrazzleTC 7th April 2014 14:49

Today's wee milestone.
http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/a...psae0f4912.jpg

FrazzleTC 7th April 2014 22:11

For anyone interested, do get in touch, as I'm quite happy to do a good deal, for a forum member.

FrazzleTC 8th April 2014 18:02

Another bump for this. An ideal car for someone who wants a classic car without the hassle of a much older car. Brisk, comfortable, and stylish.

Jules

I agree. A long drive in a 75 leaves me aching and a little disappointed compared to an 800.

FrazzleTC 9th April 2014 12:13

For anyone wishing to view the car, I'll be returning to uni on Sunday afternoon, so it really needs to be seen on Saturday, or earlier, because otherwise, it'll be next weekend, before I can meet anyone to view it again, though I will be about over the Easter weekend, until Monday afternoon.

FrazzleTC 10th April 2014 14:58

Another bump on this, as I really do want it to go to an enthusiast. I'll be putting it on ebay in the next day or two, if not, unfortunately! Do PM me, if you're interested.

FrazzleTC 10th April 2014 21:46

Unfortunately, now on eBay.

FrazzleTC 10th April 2014 23:08

Thanks very much for your kind words! :) Sorry to hear your ZT is SORN'd! Hope it's back on the road soon. I'm surprised that nobody has snapped this up yet, but, we'll see how things go! :)

FrazzleTC 11th April 2014 17:47

Daily bump, and fire away, if you have any questions about the car.

victorgte 11th April 2014 18:48

Right car wrong time. I loved both of my Rover 800's and regret selling the last one as there was nothing wrong with it so why did I sell it? Not the best looking car Rover ever made but it grows on you and they were good performers.

FrazzleTC 11th April 2014 19:57

Thanks Victor! Alas, the Scimitar is a car I've wanted for many years, so when mine came up for sale, I had to have it! :) I've always quite liked the very minimalist appearance of mark 1 800s, and that was part of the reason for buying mine.

FrazzleTC 12th April 2014 15:20

Daily bump on this lovely car.

HenryD 13th April 2014 22:14

Lovely looking car,had three of these back in the day,825 sterling,827sli and a manual 827 vitesse which was a fabulous car that I much regret selling.
Good luck with the sale

FrazzleTC 15th April 2014 09:06

Thanks Henry! They really are fantastic cars, and I'll be very sad to see it go.

FrazzleTC 18th April 2014 08:27

Just a wee bump for the Easter weekend.

FrazzleTC 18th April 2014 13:49

I've had a few offers from non-enthusiasts, but, I'm sort of holding out for someone interested in Rovers taking it on, so, if you're interested, get in touch sooner than later.

sterling800 18th April 2014 20:26

Ohh no..

love of my life..MK1 rover 800!!! have an 827 sterling..but yours looks stunning.hmmmmm ponders!!!! Jules is right about the seats in those though..My sterling has elcetric recling seats in the rear...how cool is that!!!

Chris

FrazzleTC 18th April 2014 20:54

Thanks Chris!
The electric reclining seats in mark 1 Sterlings are just amazing! Very cool car, and not something I've seen for a while!

FrazzleTC 20th April 2014 10:31

On a lovely day like today, you, too, could be wafting to a classic car show in this delightful car! Go on, you know you want it.
I'll gladly collect any prospective buyer from Dumfries or Lockerbie, and I'm happy for the car to be independently inspected too.

FrazzleTC 20th April 2014 14:13

Will take a cheap ZT V6, or 75 auto V6, in part-ex, but, really would rather just have a cash sale.

FrazzleTC 21st April 2014 10:03

Another lovely day, when someone's missing out on enjoying the delights of this wonderful classic.
I'm about all day today, should anyone wish to view.

FrazzleTC 23rd April 2014 09:38

Just in case anyone's not seen it. :)

FrazzleTC 24th April 2014 07:04

A wee bump for the weekend.

Jules 24th April 2014 07:14

Wishing your life away a bit there Fraser !!
There is a whole Thurs and Friday yet and I have five 75's here to finish for owners by 3pm Friday :0

FrazzleTC 24th April 2014 09:34

The life of a student, here, Jules. I'd rather be working on Rovers though! :)

FrazzleTC 26th April 2014 08:39

Another bump, and if you're interested, I'm prepared to do a deal, just to avoid any more hassle. The car is a lovely, honest example, and I'll discuss any details at length with any interested parties.

FrazzleTC 26th April 2014 10:56

Actually, for forum members only, a price reduction, to £1150, or nearest offer.

FrazzleTC 27th April 2014 20:14

Now I'm back from my weekend away, another wee bump.
Car will come with a brand new battery.

FrazzleTC 29th April 2014 08:01

New battery fitted, and car running very well.

FrazzleTC 29th April 2014 08:41

I will take a cheaper 75, or ZT V6 in part exchange if you're keen to have this fantastic 800, but I'd rather a cash sale.

FrazzleTC 29th April 2014 17:56

If anyone can buy this by the weekend, I'll be pleased because I'm very busy with exams thereafter, and selling the car will not be something I'll have time to dedicate to it until towards the end of May.
So, if you want, or are interested in the car, come and see it before the end of the weekend, as I'd rather it went to an enthusiast than some of the ebay people who've expressed an interest.

FrazzleTC 30th April 2014 09:47

Another wee bump, and to say I'll take any sensible offers, as I want it to go to the right sort of buyer.
If you're interested, best get in touch sooner than later, as a few ebay types have been in touch about seeing it this weekend.

FrazzleTC 30th April 2014 22:08

I really don't want to sell it outside enthusiast circles, so, first £995 takes it! You'll not find another 40,000 mile 827 mark 1, and it really is an investment for the future!
It's be a huge pity if it fell into the wrong hands.

alanjay 30th April 2014 23:12

Unbelievable.

I cannot believe this beauty has not sold, wish my home wasn't restricted to one car per resident because I'd love this as a second car.

Jules 30th April 2014 23:47

I trust you are advertising it on the 800 club sites ??

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 08:04

I advertised it on the 800 site, but I've had no interest on there. I've had a couple of genuine enquiries, but the vast majority have been time wasters. It's a car for someone with a real interest in Rovers, and, I believe it's a bargain at its new price.

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 10:15

It is not advertised for this price anywhere else, and, I think it's an enormous amount of car for the money. It's taxed until the end of September, MOT'd until January, has a brand new battery, and it's a very honest car.
There's really nothing else to say about it, other than to suggest that anyone interested comes to view, because I don't want it falling into the hands of someone who's going to ruin it.

lovema75 1st May 2014 11:29

Its a shame its not sold, lovely car with a great engine.

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 12:37

Thanks David. I'm surprised that nobody has snapped it up! Someone has offered me a Maestro as a PX, but, that's really not my thing at all.

Have you tried the Rover Sports Register, the all Rover club?

Roverite.

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 12:55

I'm afraid it's not on the RSR, as I thought the forum was so quiet, that I didn't think it was worth advertising on there. That, and being a member of five car clubs already, I just cannot justify any more membership fees.

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 20:56

A little bump for this evening. :)

Col G 1st May 2014 21:49

I keep looking at this!! Wanna swap for my 75 I've got up for sale :getmecoat:

FrazzleTC 1st May 2014 22:04

I genuinely would swap for your diesel 75, if you wanted, as I have a friend who quite fancies a 75 diesel.

Col G 2nd May 2014 04:13

Ok, I have a couple of days left on ebay that I would like to let if finish (as it cost me a bit to advertise it). If no one buys her from me then she's yours!

FrazzleTC 2nd May 2014 15:32

If nobody has bought this by the end of the weekend, that sounds good to me, Col.

In the meantime, anyone interested, I really want the car away as soon as possible, as my uni exams start in a week's time. So, I will accept very near offers to the £995 asking price. I really can't see you getting any more car for the money, which is the same age.
Any questions, please do ask, and all I ask is that it's gone as soon as possible, and that nobody messes me about. I'm a very reasonable person, and I'm very enthusiastic about anything Rover.

Col G 2nd May 2014 18:17

Im so sorry Fraser but SWMBO has put her foot down. I am not allowed another toy / project for fear of death!
I think my current 75 kinda pushed her to the edge and discussing the rover swap got me a slapped wrist and early bed time. Opps I am in the dog house big time, still quiet night for me though.......
Maybe it will continue over the weekend and give me a chance to clean and polish the Jag and 75.
I wish you all the best with the sale and really hope it goes to a good home

FrazzleTC 2nd May 2014 18:29

No worries, Col! Thanks for the interest, and all the best with your sale! :)

So, anyone interested, get in touch, and grab a bargain.

FrazzleTC 3rd May 2014 08:07

Another bump for a Saturday morning.
If you've got a free weekend, and fancy a classic for the summer, do come and have a look.

FrazzleTC 3rd May 2014 09:40

Actually, for two days only, £900. Price will revert to £995 on Sunday night. A give-away at this price. I do insist that anyone wishing to buy collects by the end of Monday, because I'll be away for two weeks, as of then.

Col G 3rd May 2014 09:49

She's gotta go at that price Fraser! Thats an absolute steal!
Oh I'm still in the dog house btw :duh:

FrazzleTC 3rd May 2014 11:02

I'm surprised it's not been snapped up!
Sorry to hear! Hope you can resolve the situation sooner than later! Haha!

FrazzleTC 3rd May 2014 11:53

I'm afraid that if it doesn't sell by Monday night, I'll need to SORN it. So, please get in touch if you want it, as I'm happy to sell it to any enthusiast, but really cannot deal with anything to do with the car thereafter, until the end of May, because I have uni exams coming up, and I really haven't got time to do anything with it.

FrazzleTC 3rd May 2014 22:39

Anybody on here interested at £900? I'll even take a very very near offer on £900, if that'd be the difference between a sale, and no sale.

ballymenaman 4th May 2014 00:42

Hello from Ballymena!

I've been trying to reply to your post and then realised I hadn't renewed my subscription to the Club - hence the problem! Sorted now!

I am very interested in the 827. I am a massive Rover fan and would cherish her! I'd have to move my lovely low mileage 45 out of the garage so the 827 had a nice warm/dry home beside my Rover Mini - but age before beauty! LOL!

A few questions/queries - have you any photos of the paint bubbles on the rear arch and the scratch on the quarter panel? Also - has the timing belt been changed?

Would meeting you in Stranraer be a problem?

Best regards.

Andy

ballymenaman 4th May 2014 01:21

By the way - IF we were negotiating - and timescale is an issue for you - I could wait until the end of May, no problem. Or June, if you like. Slow and steady wins the race!!!!

Andy

FrazzleTC 4th May 2014 09:56

I've sent you a PM. :)

Anyone wishing to view today is very welcome, and the same goes for tomorrow.

FrazzleTC 4th May 2014 15:15

Will take a diesel auto Tourer as a swap/part-ex, but would prefer a cash sale.

FrazzleTC 5th May 2014 08:10

Just one more bump.

FrazzleTC 11th May 2014 17:15

A wee bump, since it's been a while since the last one.

FrazzleTC 13th May 2014 10:50

Another bump, as I'm quite keen to get it away as soon as possible.

FrazzleTC 13th May 2014 18:08

Anyone at all, before I SORN it?

FrazzleTC 14th May 2014 13:19

One more bump.

FrazzleTC 14th May 2014 22:45

It will be on SORN, as of tomorrow evening, unless anyone comes to view, or wishes to do so. It's a real classic in the making, and very rare indeed, now. I'd like it to go to an enthusiast, but, I really do need the space now!

FrazzleTC 15th May 2014 17:41

Just another note to say that it's £820, without the tax, and, is the superior Honda-engined V6 in answer to a question I received.

FrazzleTC 16th May 2014 07:52

A little bump, for the weekend. I can leave the tax on until Sunday night, should any of you wish to view this weekend. It's £900 with the tax, £820 without.

FrazzleTC 16th May 2014 17:50

As the person who said they were going to buy it is no longer answering emails, I'll give it another bump, and say that the first person to put £800 in my hand, without tax, or, £875, with it, can take it away.
I can't understand why it's not been snapped up, as it's a truly lovely thing. If you've ever fancied an older Rover, as a classic, or, indeed, a retro everyday car, then this is ideal.

championdaddy 16th May 2014 20:33

These are awesome cars, I had an 1993 820 ex police car, terrific thing.
If I could sell my 1.8t I would buy this......even though you are a good 8 hour drive away

FrazzleTC 17th May 2014 08:17

Thanks Paul! They're very impressive, and the performance of the 2.7s is pretty remarkable!

FrazzleTC 17th May 2014 15:57

Having been out to a show today, I can say that whoever gets this will have a lovely car to take along to such events, where it'll doubtless attract lots of positive comments!

Alan_G 17th May 2014 18:45

Fraser I keep being drawn back to this thread. Its such a cracking car. I would love to have it unfortunately I dont have the space for it. Very surprised it hasn't sold and I hope someone snaps it up soon. If I had a bigger place with garage/driveway it would be my weekend/ show car!

FrazzleTC 17th May 2014 21:01

I'm absolutely amazed that it hasn't sold, as I don't think many 800s are this good, particularly the very rare mark 1s. I'm taking it to a show tomorrow, with the for sale sign, to see if it'll shift.

FrazzleTC 18th May 2014 10:50

Anyone wishing to see the car, can do so at Dumfries Aviation Museum, this afternoon.

FrazzleTC 18th May 2014 15:08

Car performed rather well today, and attracted lots of positive comments. The perfect car for a Rover fan. Also, it's insured for the next 10 days, so will remain taxed until then. Therefore, it's available with the tax, at £875, with no offers, as really, it's a give away, at that price.
http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3adbb889.jpg

FrazzleTC 19th May 2014 09:52

Another bump for this lovely car! Just think, you could be cruising around with the sunroof open in this amazing weather! Also, for anyone who worries that it's in Scotland, and thus impossible to collect, it's actually just an hour from Carlisle.

There's a buyer out the Fraser.

That looks like Heathhall Airfield to me?

FrazzleTC 19th May 2014 18:48

Thanks Glenn!
Yes, indeed. Their first shot at a new show. Wasn't meaning to go, but a good day out!

FrazzleTC 20th May 2014 11:03

Nearly 6000 views, and nobody fancies it? I'll include a boot full of spares too! :)

FrazzleTC 20th May 2014 15:58

Another wee point, if 'How Many Left' is to be believed, this is one of less than 20 827 Si mark 1 Automatics on the road. Either way, being a mark 1, a very rare car indeed.

FrazzleTC 21st May 2014 10:12

Mid-week bump!

FrazzleTC 21st May 2014 15:29

Now on ebay.

FrazzleTC 21st May 2014 19:15

Also, if it would make the difference, I'll do it, exclusively for forum members, for £850, but not a penny less. Cheapest mark 1 you'll find, and, also one of the best.

FrazzleTC 21st May 2014 20:28

And, I will happily collect interested parties from Dumfries station.

FrazzleTC 22nd May 2014 09:05

Here's a link to the ebay ad, so that you can check all of the details, but obviously my forum price applies to all members.

If this is a space, more than money issue, why not ask a museum to look after it for you? I would hate to see it sold off cheap for someone to use as a daily driver.

Space is the main issue, certainly, but financially, it'd be beneficial if it went sooner than later, but, the space is the main problem. Unfortunately there are no car museums anywhere near me.

I will try to include some period sales literature with the car, as well, for interested parties.

Of course I want it, we all want it, even you still want it, it's just a matter of what to do it.

I hope it's a happy home, can't believe it took so long for such a fine example.

At last !!
Hope it's not going to be used as a runabout until it fails the MOT

That is good news. Nothing worse or more frustrating to have a really good car advertised and it hanging around for a while.
Hopefully it will be looked after too.

Chris
