RPWC 19th June 2015 06:42

Morning all, briefly,as going back to bed soon. Nightmare shift last night, all was going well until we reached the A1, the junction I need ed to join at,was closed southbound,. At least I thought it was just the junction,no,the whole southbound carriageway ,after heading north on the diversion to the next junction, and tuning around,I got the closed junction and found I Had to go north AGAIN. After reading the signs for the diversion,it was going to be 20 miles north,to pick up a connecting road to go east, then on to A19 South ,rejoining A1 beyond road closure, but then I realised I hadn't enough driving time left, so had to head back to the nearest services, and call the tour drivers to come and meet me further north.

RPWC 20th June 2015 10:39

Morning all, don't know how I'm up and about as early tbh, another nightmare shift last night. Drove to Peterborough services to take over a coach returning from
Belgium.
Left there 9.35 for what should have been a 3 and a half to 4 hour trip,I didn't get back to depot until 2.15 this morning, then had to set to and with the help of another driver, prepare it for immediate turn around to go to Norfolk.
Loads of road closures and diversions,A1 closed north of Newark, diverted on to A616 and 614,narrow country roads,30 and 40 mph limits, rejoined A1 near Blyth, south Yorks,a little further north and road closed again at Doncaster, diverted through Doncaster town centre, rejoined A1 near Andy Willi territory.
Got into north Yorkshire and signs saying A1 closed after A 167,this road runs from Newcastle down to Darlington in county Durham, and on to Northallerton in north Yorkshire. So thinking i would be clever, diverted on to A 19,got about 10 miles up the road and guess what? Yep,road closed, diverted again through country lanes into Northallerton, rejoin A 19 further north, made good progress all the way to Sunderland, cut back across to A1,got to Gateshead, A1 closed again, and had to divert. These delays always happen to me!

reworht 20th June 2015 16:09

G'day all from sunny Exmoor - well, it is now, but we had a few showers this morning. I'm now totally switched on to idle holiday mode. Get up late. leisurely breakfast, nip out for a bit of fresh air and a wander around, buy some grub for tonight - snack for lunch and then back to the caravan for an afternoon snooze. Morrisons were selling all their bottled ciders at 2 for £2.50 in Tiverton, so I acquired a good selection of Thatchers and Henry Westons :drool4:

Hope Steve has safely arrived in Cornwall and that the site is to his satisfaction - I'm in trouble if it isn't, 'cos he went on my recommendation
