I have never taken any illegal substance, mainly due to being in safety critical positions on the railway since I was 18. In the random tests the tester from an indepandant company would arrive, set up and over the next two or three hour period anybody involved in train running starting, finishing or during their shift had to give a urine sample, that included drivers from other depots and even other train operating companies. Always remember one guy who worked in the shunting yard was dimissed following the results of the urine test. The story came out that he had bought some dodgy internet viagra which contained a prohibited substance!

Cannabis can be detected in your system for typically 6 months for a 30 year old, hair molcules especially good at holding residual evidence.

Regarding immediate effect, 72 hours is the minimum safe to me for a small amount simply due to the varying degrees of "wash" chemicals in bricks now days.

Stuff they sell might as well be a bag of paint thinner it's that effecting your mind and body.

Real danger is actually what it does to the eyes and synaptic pathways in regards slowing down response for hours after the drugs have been taken.

Cannybissy can cause the same problems in your head as Canbus problems can in your car.
You know it makes sense, stick to Scotch and tobacco.

Zero tolerance from me I'm afraid. Huge fines and bans are music to my ears.

Who in their right mind takes drugs or drink and drives?

Who in their right mind takes drugs in the first place? It's wrong, it's against the law and it destroys people and their families.

Glad to say my only addiction is my Rover;)

Does seem to be more and more cannabis drivers out there these days, just look at the amount that get tugged by the law in the traffic cops/police interceptor programmes. There's one every episode.

Like you Harry,I have no time for drink driving or drug driving, especially when I have to drive some of them around for a living. Drunks that is.

Driving is hard enough when I'm sober nowadays. I dread to think what I'd be like if I was half cut :-)

This is a really interesting thread.... I drive in my job but also go into a lot of customers houses in all types of different areas, and typically I'll be there for up to 2 hours (I'm an engineer in the energy industry) and naturally in some of these houses there are people who are, or have been, smoking dope. I have often wondered if I can just refuse to go in- mostly because I hate the smell which really lingers and I don't want my next customer to think I smoke weed. But I'd never considered the 'passive smoking' side and the law, or realised that it hung around the system for so long. I think I'll be raising this in our next work meeting.... Why should I risk my job for someone else's vile habit?

Can someone enlighten me, is it a sort of musty smell a bit like hops? I bought a car about 7 years ago (Berlingo not a 75) and for weeks it had this musty smell, it gradually disappeared, probably took about 2 months before it was completely clear. I often wondered what it was.

It smells like tomato plants. Just imagine walking into a greenhouse full of tomatoes on a warm day. And the dope heads seem surprised when folk can smell it walking past a house or car where it's been smoked!
