I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Ford Pinto tragedy. I'll find a link and post it. Ford knew there was a serious design flaw; when the Pinto was involved in a rear end collision, the fuel tank was pushed into the rear axle, thus piercing the 'tank and many customers died or suffered severe burns in the subsequent fire. Ford did have a modification- a lining for the 'tank and a shield for the axle- but costings showed it was cheaper to pay out for legal claims! A lot of attempts to cover it up but the customers won in the end. At a huge cost. |
Greed
Quote:
So many manufacturers put profits before all else and their corporate greed causes unnecessary suffering with callous disregard for human life. |
Capitalism promotes greed it's the world we live in. In an ideal world business world be run on the premises of profit is good as it shows the the company is healthy and can look after its self but excessive profit show that part of the business is suffering eg customer service or quality of the product and in the short term looks great but in the longer time frame will hurt the company. Eg vw at the moment.

The exploding fuel tank took years for Jeep to fix - which is even more of a scandal as they could have learned from the Ford Pinto story:duh:.
The current model of Jeep Cherokee also has problems:eek:: https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/anton-ye...075937488.html |
I asked a crash test engineer what was a safe car to get. He said it depends on the type of accident you are going to have.
