Whipped it apart , checked all the ribbons as the Seller requested , nothing seems amiss , and retested it with no difference!!, didn't expect anything, but had to go through the motions.

Hi Chris,

Just had a look at my GPS board, the main part of the board looks the same, but where your one is different is where it plugs into the main board, its a shame they were not the same, I could have sent my one for you to test.

SORRY

Yes Chris, been been there, done that

I would suggest you refuse this offer, I took my head unit to a electrical shop and got them to remove the old module and refit the new the GPS module (I am no good with a solder iron) , when I got it back it still didn't work, so not only did it cost me £30.00 for the shop to swap over the board, but then I had to return it to the factory at a cost of £70.00 AND I never received any refunds, when I got the unit back after 6 weeks they had replaced the GPS module with a NON TMC one, so I also lost another $40.00

That is the BIG problem with buying these types of units from China, boy am I glad Sean (Radioguy) came along :}

Just a question ?

With my unit currently unwell.. been ponderin', well gotta do something ?;)
---------------------------------------------
Is there any faint possibility, that the system firmware carn be screwed up
by any IGO modifcations, I.e Adding of skins , maps, etc .

wondering as all my problems seem to centre around the GPS system.

I would love to know how the system runs ??. boot up sequence ? etc ..

For info .. I have found a Set of firmware install files on the Net , on a Forum, that was supplied by the manufacturer to another user who had screwed up his system somehow? .
This is supoosedly just for the Erising 962d ? So I grabbed the files quick.

Well ..thats what the forums thread was all about .

But embedded Firmware is a tricky area!! get it wrong and OOEER!!

Hi Chris,

By you adding skins ECT will make NO difference as it has nothing to do with the firmware, on my original unit from Sean I had a similar problem after just two hours in the car, I just LOST the SD card, nothing would show up when you went into the Sat Nav settings NO storage card showing and that was with the IGO that was sent with the unit, no skins or anything added. just bad luck with your unit.

Cheers tony,

I asked cos it happened to pack up at the same time I tried those IGO branding files and some Skins from the IGO8 blogspot site.
But then I had fiddled before with IGO , got some resolutions wrong and all it did was give an Error message from WinCE.
Popped Old card in and all back to normal .
From Info on and around it looks like we aren't the only ones with this GPS card problem ?
