Default Front end alignment

While checking my track rod ends yesterday I found I could get my hand behind the offside wheel but not the nearside one. Measured the difference and the offside one is sitting 10mm forward more than the other side.

The offside tyre is also feathering on the inside. Just had the wishbone bushes changed last week but can't see that having anything to do with it.

Any ideas anyone

Surely you need to get your tracking checked at a tyre place , sorry if I am missing some other point ?

The 10mm difference you speak of refers to which dimension? Some photos may help.

If you have feathering on your tyres you need to get your tracking done anyway, so a trip to the alignment centre will presumably find out if anytging else is amiss.

Hi

Any adjustment or replacement of suspension parts can and will affect the geometry of the front end changed my arms bushes, track rod inners and outers and even counting threads on the track rods in an effort to save a few quid I had to have the tracking done - Drives so much better now though

The 10 mm is measured from the trailing edge of the tyre to the front edge of the wing.

Have just bought a n/s track rod end and once I've finished rebuilding the rear brakes, I'll be fitting it. Then it's off for an alignment check

I've hit no end of pot holes over the course of the winter, nearly all on the n/s. Could explain the n/s wheel sitting further back in the arch. That would make the n/s tyre scrub though, not, the o/s.

if the sub frame is bent the whole geometry could be out...

A collapsed wishbone bush will allow the road wheel to move in the front-rear direction. Maybe you should get underneath and check the bushes?
