Are we not jumping ahead with the faulty door lock diagnoses?
My remotes (plural) would only lock the doors. It's turned out the unlock microswitches in the fobs were FUBARed. My local car key guy fixed them for £15 each and they now work perfectly.

This is only likely if ALL doors fail to unlock, if the driver's side alone is affected yhen is the motor that is the problem.
