Default My new purchase/900 miles journey

So… If you want the story then enjoy, otherwise scroll down for the pics!

Basically my Accord track car has been off the road since last year, I took it to rockingham and it basically just didnt work, engine overheating issues, seized it up, no oil pressure etc.
So I managed to limp her home, ripped the car apart, removed the engine with all the good intensions, i even bought a new motor thats fully NA built, rods, pistons, cams etc... but thats how its stayed for the last 12 months even with all my good intentions I really havent done much.

I was browsing the ATR facebook page that I created a few years ago and noticed a good friend had put his accord track car for sale, well for breaking as its worth more in parts.
The usual vultures had already claimed bits and bobs and a lot of it had gone, so I messaged him and asked him if I could buy the full car as a laugh… I made him a silly offer and he actually agreed (much to my surprise as it was less than what he had in parts) he then said I could have it for even less if he kept the wheels and seats, which made sense to me as I had both.

So I got with planning the 900 mile round trip to Plymouth, The newly aqquired (month or so ago) 190 SE looked like it was stepping upto the task, I had already done some good amounts of maintenance on her from doing the spark plugs, LPG filters, Oil filter/Oil, Cleaned re-oiled the K&N and a few other bits and bobs so it seems like the right car (the old Audi B5 isnt exactly a comfy car and has no Aircon)

So Friday morning I woke up did a fluid check and headed off to get the trailer and load up the car with stuff, I used the load guard on the back seats for the first time ever (where you fold them flat and slide the luggage guard into the back of the seats) and the boot plastic protector thing was perfect, As he was keeping the seats and wheels i needed to put the wheels in the ZT.

So loaded up in the T-T
2 x Toolboxes
4 x 18” Wheels
4 x Ratchet Straps
Bags for me and the missus to stay over
Oil/Water/Brake Fluid
Syringe
Blueroll
Drinks & Snacks
Other odds and sods

It all fitted quite nicely with space to go!!

We set off to Bristol as we were going to meet some friends on the night before staying over in the Devon hotel in Exeter, the ZT was an absolute dream all the way down to Bristol with the trailer attached.

We had a big BBQ and a great night with our friends

After that we headed over to Exeter and parked up at the Devon, so thats around 400 miles done so far no issues and only 2 stops for LPG costing about £30 so far.

Then we got up had a lovely shower and a nice relaxing morning, Went to the local pub for a fantastic meal and then set off to drive over to Plymouth, once we got there we chatted to the guy I was buying the car from and started to swap over the wheels and load up the spares.
The problem came when we tried to fit my wheels over the 6 pot Xyz brakes… no go! So he had to leave two front wheels on and I then had to swap them over and send them back.
Which I have yet to do thinking on! Oops!

Then we set off, got back to Bristol for round 2 with our friends after another good night we set off a lot later then we anticipated, ended up staying over in Cheltenham due to us being so tired heading back home, we finally made it home on the Sunday at 11:30 in the morning.
I then set about fitting seats/harnesses so I could go out in the beast, which btw is a genuine Animal.
Its spec list is as follows

Hondata s300 ECU
Blox 70mm throttle body
S2000 injectors
K&n typhoon intake
Blox velocity stack filter
Mocal oil cooler/w Thermostat
Mishimoto power steering cooler
Innovative Solid engine mounts
Vtec direct front engine mount
Alloy crank pulley
Findenza 4KG flywheel
Gearbox with 5.15 mfactoty final drive and a 2 way Cusco diff
Bored out inlet to match the 70mm Throttle
Vtec direct exhaust manifold
Solid fabs 3" manifold back exhaust with decat
Carbon boot
Vented fibreglass front wings
Stack oil pressure and temp gauges
Compomotive 17x8 et 43 wheels with re070
330mm six pot xyz brake kit
Xyz race spec coilovers
Front camber arms
rear camber arms
Polybushed front lower arms
Fibreworx Cannards
Stuke front splitter
Ep3 steering wheel
Ultra racing front and rear lower braces
Ultra racing front arch braces
Alloy radiator

So here it is as it sits now, apart from the white wheels those will be replaced.

Over 900 miles round trip with trailer and car for half of the journey I managed to only spend £100 on LPG which I felt was very reasonable given motorway prices are around 63p a litre instead of 51p near me and that I was towing a car/trailer weighing around 1300Ks my total weight was on the bridge before leaving 3,280KG before I sat in the drivers seat.

Anyway hope you enjoyed the pics/story

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE.

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE

Thanks!

Gonna enjoy the car for a few weeks then its getting stripped and the parts going onto my white Accord.
The shell is going to a good friend as although its rough bodywork wise (scratches paint fade) its completely rust free and low miles only 84k

I used to stay in the Devon Hotel a few years back visiting the Exeter branch of a company I was working for. Nice place too, although some of the rooms were a bit quaint.

Love the wheels, look like the ones that the Rover coupe race series had fitted
