Default Seatbelt Warning

Do any of you folks know if my car ('51 75CDT-116 Tourer Conn SE) should have any form of seatbelt warning light? Mine doesn't!

It is disabled on UK cars. However, if you fit seatbelt pretensioners with "two plugs" and if the wiring is under your seat already - it can be "activated".

Thanks for the replies Christopher and Steve. Just thought it was odd and that maybe I had a fault!

Whilst we are on the subject of seat belts :

1. I believe that the seatbelt height adjusters should automatically raise or lower as the electric seats move forwards or backwards - mine don't - any ideas?

2. My drivers side seatbelt is very "lazy" - I have to feed it back in when I am getting out - any ideas please?

Look under the seat - there is "chord" that should be hooked up to the seat that will move the belt up and down - make sure that is in place for starters.

I will have a look for that later on - will I need to lift the carpet?

Any idea on the "lazy" retraction of the belts?

Cable should be visible above carpet IRC.

Some people have recommended spray a duster with pledge furniture polish and give the belt a buff all the way along its length - and that helps a bit ... haven't tried it myself though.

Seat belt warning light was standard on some RHD export models. To enable it, you a) need to change the seatbelt pretensioner on the drivers side, and b) need to have a black plug under the drivers seat. Swap the pretensioner, plug it in and the light works.

The belt height - the clevis pin has probably come adrift from the cable. Usually you can find it sitting on the carpet under the seat.

Lazy belt --- Spray some Mr Sheen / Pledge on a duster (NOT on the belt) and pull the belt out all the way. Give it a good wipe on both sides, and pull it in and out a couple of times and it'll be as good as new.
