Default Bonnet cables

Recently i had a cable pop out from the splitter box, that meant i could not open my bonnet, I with help managed to open it, and re connected everything up, I have ordered a new splitter box and new cables, but how do i change the cables out, does the entire front end have to come off, or is there an easier way and how difficult will it be

Have you seen the splitter box mod? If not, try that when refitting. I would say to replace cables, bumper off, slam panel off. Easier access.

If your bonnet still won't release, I recommend removal of the bonnet locking panel when you will very likely find that the cause of the problem is that the release mechanism is contaminated with a mixture of old grease, dust and rainwater, preventing it from working properly. The two latches into which the bonnet strikers locate should also be cleaned.

I did this several years ago and it cured a stiff bonnet release lever. I have never changed the cables nor carried out any modifications to the splitter box. My car is 25 years old this month.

the bonnet is ok now, I got access to the catches and was able to reconnect everything, and ensured its working correctly, the cables have seen better days, hence why I will be changing them out, along with new splitter box,
All i need to know is,whats the best way to fit new cables, does the front end have to come off completely or can i get away with undoing the end bolts, and lifting the panel to release the catches.

Hi Martin.
Front bumper off, and slam panel off, to fit the the new cables correctly, they have a certain path to follow, and has above it gives you chance to remove the catches and give them a good clean out.
