Those symptoms pointed to a failing underbonnet pump (UBP) on mine. Poor starting on a warm engine is usually deemed to be a faulty CAM sensor.

Changed cam & crank sensor. Plenty of fuel coming out of fuel filter, ubp & in tank pump both making noises.

It is most likely to be a leaking injector causing that sort of problem.
Do a leakback test to reveal the culprit Brian |

Mines began not starting this week. Usually ok, but sometimes not. There is a humming coming from the fuel filter area which only started a week ago and I can hear it with engine on and off!

As Brian has already beat me to it I’d agree injector issue, grab your bottles and do a leakback test I’ll even guess at either number 1 or number 3 those two seem to play up first for some odd reason

Are injectors the same on a cdt as a cdti,? I have a cdt 75 which I'm using for parts which was running fine.
