![]() Having seen a horrific video recently in which a lady's health gradually deteriorated during ten years, and she was misdiagnosed by several doctors, I thought this worth raising. Heating engineers found that her boiler had been wrongly installed.
I do realize that we are all aware of Carbon Monoxide, but also, we have all probably heard of instances when persons have passed away due to being affected by it. Again, I am raising this matter with all my family and friends to ensure they fit and or test their detectors, stay safe. (Just my thought) |

![]() Detectors are cheap enough to have one in every room with a gas appliance.Well worth the investment.

![]() Years ago when I was still a kid we moved into a new house, my mother started getting really bad headaches. My father and I noticed it seemed to coincide with using the gas fire in the lounge

![]() Many of the problems with ventilation for gas appliances come from other trades. An example:
A gas cooker fitted in a kitchen that needs no permanent ventilation. The kitchen has an openable window that leads direct to outside as most do. Gas cooker installation conforms to installation instructions, Builder comes along and builds a conservatory on the end of the building next to the kitchen, kitchen window now opens into conservatory. Cooker is now incorrectly fitted !!!

![]() Since changing our gas cooker for an electric induction hob and electric cooker, our condensation levels are vastly lower and our bills are lower too. Much more efficient cooking, cleaner cooker and hob and a happy spouse!

![]() Gas boilers and other gas appliances need very careful installation regards flues and ventilation as stated by others. ch/boilers in roof spaces are a particular hazard especially when replacements installed and the flues are very often not "plug and play" You cant see whats been/not been done by the installer, bit like repairs to roofs, you take it trust, well you cant. ![]() We have one of these new fangled smart meters, we also have a dual fuel cooker. One oven is gas and the other electric. We have noticed it costs twice as much to cook our dinner with electric than with gas.
Now I know we need to save the planet and all that but if we all going to go electric we are all going to be a lot poorer or is this the plan? As far as CO I was told years ago you should have a CO detector in every room that there is a gas appliance and also one outside your bedroom door and also test them every few months. We also replace the batteries annually on all detectors. |

![]() It is very important to regularly test detectors and not assume that the battery is reliable, and that applies to any detector regardless of it's function.
