is this normal fan operation?
i have a 2002 mg ztt 2.5v6 160+ coolant level does not move level on the max mark car temp gauge sits steady at 9 oclock.
but when travelling at low speed about 10-20 mph when in slow moving traffic or when come to complete halt after about 2mins fan kicks in when moving off back upto normal road speed fan switches off. is this normal operation or is it me being paranoid |

Seems normal to me - fan comes on when needed and turns off once not.
If you leave the air-con or climate control on the whole time as I do, then the fan will probably run most of the time at slow speed to cool the aircon gas down. |

cheers for that my last car was a mg zs 180 and i cant remember the fan ever coming on and reading some of the threads on this site you just start to worry !!!!!

Hi Dave, any worrying about coolant temp. can be eradicated to a point by using the onboard diagnostic computer. Use the search facility in the tool bar, enter, enable odc, there you will find a how to do. You can then monitor the exact temp. of the coolant to the degree and at what temp your fan comes on. Very useful tool when you used to it.

Trip reset
when you say 'Trip reset' do you mean the one on the dash board or the one on the left hand stick of the streering wheel that controls the on board computer.

It's all quite normal but if you ever get it coming on and off and on and off all the time it is probably one of the lower speeds not working.
