It is useful information Jason which will benefit everyone trying to make sense of the difference between genuine, OEM and aftermarket.

I think the reason for the confusion is that MG Rover itself and subsequently X-Part used the suffix SLP on their part numbers. These codes were never intended to be understood by the customer. I came across another one; EVA, which was translated at the time by the parts counter staff at a main dealer as Early Vehicle Application!

We all live and learn. You obtained a refund and you can buy a genuine (i.e. commissioned by the vehicle manufacturer) Land Rover part from Rimmer's but this may or may not be made by Bosch. DMGRS has said that it can supply Bosch so you have a solution!

I hope that the new part makes your engine run better.

Simon

Simon - surely, you knew all of this about part suffixes.

Lemark maf here:

If you wanna wait they often run 10 and 15% discounts so can get that price down further..

Bosch maf here

I've had a number of issues with certain suppliers, thankfully rimmers and parts in motion are now my go to places. Sad that you end up resorting to eBay to know what brand and subsequently, quality your looking at before thinking about spending any money.. brands such as Bosch, Delphi, trw and so on are OEM brands that supplied to mg rover..
