![]() My 1.8 doesn't use a drop of oil. Had him serviced at 100k and he's due again for oil change at 115k. I check him weekly for oil level.

![]() Rover does 1.6 miles to work, the same back, weekends 1 mile each way on Saturday to Tesco. About once a month will give it a run of about 15 miles. Could be why it uses a drop of oil.

![]() Hi Brian, update as promised - Trikey came to look at my airbag light yesterday, and he had a look around for me. There was no water in the header again, nevermind oil and I only checked it Thursday lunch, and the pressure under the oil cap is a bit mad. So it looks like I paid a lot of money for nothing last year getting the engine done.

![]() Is there a crank case breather on the 1.8 ??
If so, is it clear ? Excess pressure can force oil up past the piston rings. |

![]() there is a breather in the cam cover, it would need to be four times the size to vent the pressure that's in Dawns engine though!!!

![]() After the Money that Dawn has spent on the car I would be very interested to get the car here and strip it myself just so I can see the problem an justify if she has been ripped off or not, but by looking at the v6 and what they told her I do have my doubts about the work done to the car
as most of you know Dawns v6 did not need all the work they said, it needed a coil, handbrake shoes fitting correctly and 2 number plate light bulbs |

![]() The mot is out in two weeks. I will get some brake fluid in at the weekend then book it for one somewhere the week after, see what else might be wrong. I don't know what Andy is thinking? If my engine is worth stripping or not. I know Andy was interested in why it was doing what it is.
I have never known an engine blow an oil cap off before when its not screwed in, but mine can! |
