Default slightly high miles Montego

Had one of these for a couple of years, but only a low miles (149k) compared to this

Kids called it Big RED ..really solid old workhorse despite its reputation.
shifted a whole house full of furniture in it .
bought for 400 sold for 400 and its still going locally.

I noticed once a w124 Mercedes 300D parked outside my house. It hade a laurel surrounded grill badge that read "Mercedes Benz" and "250000 km". Thing is it was in bronze.

I had to google it and sure enough: Mercedes issues 250k, 500k and 1m km badges or at least they used to. Kind of cool I think.

That wasn't a bad engine...... I sold Austin Rover's in those days and had a Montego diesel. The engine was modified by Perkins (synonymous with diesel engines) and was really smooth. Coupled with the Honda gearbox, it afforded a much better drive than the names "Austin" & "Montego" might suggest!
