Default No start 1.8T mk2 ...Filter seperation or not??

Hi gang..

My ztt was working fine in the morning and when I was gonna use it at noon again it would not start..

The pump is priming and buzzing and its got plenty of gas.
I managed to get home and went back with a laptop and plugged it to TOAF..

The fault codes I got was:

P1232 fuel pump relay switch-short circuit to ground
P1520 Unknown error

I suspect it might be fuel filter separation going on and i got the FOC clip and o ring from a kit i bought on e-bay some time ago...

Any suggestions? Am I way off?

Always good to fit the clip on a later model, even if it isn’t needed immediately. If the filter ribs all line up then I doubt that’s the problem. Can you measure the fuel pressure?

According to BigRuss every 1.8 has the P1520 error and he’d be worried if it wasn’t there

You can activate the fuel pump relay with Toaf, or at least it’s in the V6 menu, otherwise swop relays. If it still won’t start I’d try energising the fuel pump under the rear seat with external voltage, white/purple pin plus, black pin minus.

Good luck

It can't be the relay then.

No, you're not way off Seb. Fuel filter separation remains likely if you don't have a clip fitted yet.

1520 is a spurious BMW Code - as said sounds like FFS.

I'd be interested to know what the outcome of this one was.
