Default Strange Thing. With oil

Yesterday while we were out in the Diesel, just for a fraction of a second, a low oil pressure light came on and the engine wanted to die for that second, light went out immediately, with no further problems, parked up foe a couple of hours, came back checked the oil dipstick at the right level.
Any ideas??

Are you sure which came first - the light or the stumble? Either way it sounds like a momentary loss of contact in a wire or something along those lines. Does a low oil pressure warning kill the engine to save it? I wouldn't have thought so. But, a momentary engine stoppage would certainly trigger the low oil pressure warning. But what could possibly cause the sudden momentary stoppage of a diesel?

Food for thought,
Glenn

Many many thanks for a sensible answer, I think it probably the engine stall momentararily, that’s caused the light to come on.

Low fuel pressure feeding the high pressure mechanical pump will kill the engine. The low pressure fuel is supplied by an electric pump or more usually pumps, two. If one found it was pumping air or failed for a fraction of a second....

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Sounds daft, but you sure you didn’t perhaps nearly stall it when pulling away or coming to a halt perhaps?
