![]() My Wifes 1.8 suffered a failure in the heater hose yesterday.
I had spare hoses in the shed luckily including the one needed. It is the lower hose that goes through the centre bulkead. I have just taken a quick look and cannot readily see where to access the clip at the bulkead end. Is it just a case of prising out the rubber bung? It looks too low down for access through the plenum chamber and looks quite a long reach if accessible by removing radio etc from central console. Any heads up would be appreciated as i will have to tackle this once i have picked up some antifreeze when the shops open. Edit: I have just removed rubber bung and removed radio & atc controls but can still not see access. Drivers side footwell panel next I suppose. Last edited by brianw; 1st October 2017 at 08:42.. |

![]() The book says "remove air intake plenum" then "remove bulkhead access panel" Then there is a picture showing the ends of the hoses.
Had a quick look under my cars bonnent and it does not look like fun ![]() Regards Andy |

A couple of photo's below for you regarding the heater hoses that go through the bulk head, top and bottom both have a clip you can use a pair of mole grips to open, I think these pipes are in the same place across the models, ie photo's below are of 1.8T and 2.5 V6. There is a centre panel that you remove to gain access, same as if you were going to change the back plugs on the V6, hopefully the photo's are not to late for your reference, but knowing you the problem would have been sorted by now cheers Arctic

![]() Thanks for the photos Steve.
Once I got back home with the antifreeze I took the plenum cover off and all was revealed. For anyone doing this I found I had to remove the windsreen wipers in order to get the entire cover off. Then I removed the pollen filter unit 2 no 10mm hex at top And withdrew the filter box. This then gave access to the hose clips. The clips had been positioned by a comedian so that it was still really difficult to compress them but eventually by using needle nose pliers I managed to rotate them enough to get on the mole grips. Only problem now is that the engine managment light is staying on and the car will not attempt to start! ![]() ![]() I am hoping that it is just that the connectors to the autobox got a dousing of antifreeze and it needs to dry out, but fear otherwise. Not sure what else it could be. I tried checking fault xodes with torque pro but none showed in that. My Wife is waiting to go shopping as well! |

![]() Perhaps all is not lost.
I just checked the voltage at obd with torque - 9.6volts No wonder it would not turn over. Will put battery on a fast charge and cross fingers that this is cause. Never had an issue with battery before so not sure if this is just a coincidence or we have something drawing power all the time. |
