Default How on earth do I get the back seat squab to clip down

OK on the Duotone tourer someone obviously had a theory there was a problem with the fuel pump and pulled the rear seat cushion out. I have tried allot of things over a couple of days and so far have had no luck. I am assuming there is an order to doing this to get the rear hook and front clips on. The rear hook I can get but the front clip no chance even using a variety of homemade pokers. So HELP please!!

when you have the back clipped in both sides.get your knee on the corner and push.you can feel the clip area thro your knee cap as a hard area. if you cannot move your knee around until you can

if i can remember it right when i did my fuel pump, you need to hook the rear first then you can lift the front of the cushion a bit then slide your the other hand so you can push the hook on the locking mechanism. also as stated above, you can use your knee or hands to give a good push where you can approximately feel where the locking mechanism is.

Difficulty getting the front corners to clip properly suggets the wire spring retainer has become distorted. It can be fixed while the seat is removed.
This may help with that (see Post 2): http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...read.php?t=175

All very good information from the other guys, here's a bit of barely useful info - The squab is the back of the seat not the base - - I know, I always thought it was the base as well until a discussion on here and I looked it up.

thanks I will give it a go; so its hook on the back first and then try getting the clip to drop down. Looking at your pic I think whoever fiddled with the fuel pumps also put the insulation back slightly wrong which could be the reason as I think from what I can remember of the last couple of days the carpet is sitting on top of it (not butted up) which might explain why my jumping has not got the front clip to secure.

Like I said, barely useful.

Onto your original problem, once you've managed to hook the retainer over the hooks at the back you should be able to see how var out of line the front locating pieces are with the sticky up bits on the car, twist and push back the cushion as necessary to get them lined up and then a good push down right above it usually does the trick for me. (although I can never get both sides of the squab locked in the upright position properly).
