Default high revs on cold start

When cold starting my 51 plate 2.5 v6 the engine starts without a problem but idles just under 2000 revs. When the engines warms up the idle speed is normal. This is a problem that has just started so i know this is not normal, hope somebody can give me a few pointers.

Default

I have a '02 plate V6 that does this occasionally so I'd be quite interested in any expert opinion on this as well! I thought it was associated with my dodgy throttle body mechanism but had the whole thing replaced and I still get a 'lively' start now and again. Normal behavior for a V6?? A workmate thought that automatic chokes can cause this whilst someone else muttered something about engine temperature sensors!! Over to the experts....
