Best wishes to all who are "under the weather" today, in more ways than one!
Taking mum for her Covid jabs and eye exams at the hospital today. Since we got back, she's had scam calls from her "bank", a boiler failure and leaks on the heating and water system! Also found out that the Power of Attorney application that was requested in November, hasn't even been sent yet, due to a C* up at the solicitors. I got a letter in late November asking for payment (which they already had). Rang them (in November) and was told to ignore it as it was a standard letter! Our payment had been credited to the wrong account!!! Doh!

Why use a Solictor? Application is quite straight forward if a little trying filling in the forms and only £82 fee.

It was for my mum, who is a belt and braces type of lady, who wanted it done "properly"! She may be 99 but the "lady is not for turning"! Her "temporary" carers, after her broken arm, described her as "very independent and she knows her own mind"! Unfortunately for those around her, she is not as independent as she used to be and it can be very "trying", for all concerned! Her "disability aids" are stacking up in the back bedroom and she also refuses to wear her fall alarms (she has one and a spare) despite her falling several times last year. I see her slip it on as I arrive at the house!!!

It's a miserable rainy day here, Even the cats don't want to go out.
What a performance with the car at the clinic car park, It was choc-a-bloc & I just managed to squeeze into a tight spot right up against another car on my side, I said you'll have to go in yourself as I can't get out of the car, it was only a few yards from the door. Unbeknown to me my missus hadn't shut the door properly as I turned it off, When she came back to the car I unlocked the car but noticed the wing mirrors didn't fold out !!! & it wouldn't go into drive & wouldn't release the electric handbrake To re-set the car I needed to get out of the car as the car detects someone is sat in the seat My missus had to get out again & I had to clamber out of the passenger side. Lock the car, Then open it & alls good again. It's a security thing & I even got a message on my phone from SAIC saying intrusion into the car Then she drags me to the small ASDA which is self serve only & that bleddy machine wouldn't process half the stuff & had to wait for a employee to re-set it umpteen times . I don't go near the place for this very reason, I've even left all the food there once & beggered off in a temper. I said to her don't ever drag me there again.

A good visit to the Low sight clinic with mum. They gave her a magnifier with a light, some binocular clip ons for watching the telly (Biggles eat your heart out!). but she drew the line at some dark overglasses for the strong sun ("They make me look like Stevie Wonder!"). We were sat with a 95 year old (mum is 99) and their conversation was like watching the Monty Python Yorkshireman sketch, as they tried to top each others ailments!

LOL yeah I draw the line at those self-service machines, Never going near them again, Missus will have to have the equivalent from Aldi in future. Sounds just like my Mam (94) As she doesn't get out much she hangs on every word of local gossip she can muster & tells me everything three or four times She was upset last week as we take her to the community centre on Wednesday afternoons to play dominoes, but sadly all the old dears have passed away & there's nobody there now.

No rain here but we appear to have gone through a time warp and ended up back in March judging by the strong cold wind all day.
