Default KV6 - Hot Start

Hi

Can I drink from the fountain of knowledge regarding all things Rover please?

I have a 2003 KV6 2.5 Auto. My initial problem was it wouldn’t start when it was hot but, leave it for a while and it immediately bursts into life.

The garage couldn’t find out what was wrong as, ‘it’s old, our diagnostics kit can’t read your car and we don’t have a T4’.

Had a dig around on the forum and, on balance, decided to try a new cam sensor and link lead which I got from DMGRS and the garage fitted them.

Success, it started as usual and also from hot after a run. That was on Wednesday. Today, it’s gone back to messing me around again.

When it is not starting the rev counter does not flick up.

My next thought is, could it be the crank sensor?

Russell from MG Solutions is coming to see me in a couple of weeks to renew the cam belts and run a T4 over her.

Getting a crank sensor delivered might be worthwhile as he’s going to be knee deep in my engine anyway.

Just for information it’s had a new battery fitted in the past few months (well the old one was over six years old) and a new thermostat and associated pipe work fitted last month.

Any thoughts/ideas welcomed

Cheers
