It's surprising how many cars you can look at before finding something even half decent (never mind legal or honest). I usually ask to view any paperwork via email/ whatsapp or similar before making the journey- this saves a lot of wasted journeys and time due to no V5 and can give a good indication of the sellers character / the cars history if receipts and service history are provided...
If I visit to view and the car isn't as described or what I'm looking for then I thank the seller and move on to the next. I have never bought a car I'm not happy to buy BUT I have bought a few with faults that were hidden.

I don't buy cars unless I need to as I don't enjoy the process

Personally, at the end of the market 75s/ZTs currently occupy I would be prepared to overlook all manner of sins provided that it hasn't been tastelessly modified, isn't suffering badly from corrosion and isn't damp inside.

A missing V5C is easily remedied!
